3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle... medium bright brown with a yellowish tan head, lasting lace... the aroma was a bit dead, molasses, caramel, alcohol... this needs some time, this was really hot, way too much alcohol, a bit of brown sugar, dark fruits, a bit of chalk, nothing wrong with it, just didn’t really impress me, needed to be sweeter to hide the alcohol
Eccellente barley wine. Complesso, avvolgente, intenso. Intensissimi liquoroso e passito. Spettacolo!!!

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying tan head and a touch of a muddied brown glow. Aroma toasted malt, alcohol, pit fruits, raisins, earth and a bit of caramel. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malty flavour at first with alcohol, toffee, earth, grain and an oaky and cedar flavour up front that fades to a smooth caramel sweetness that finishes with some alcohol and bitterness from hops and unfinished sugars from caramel and fruits. Aftertaste is smooth-ish with some caramel strength and a dose of hops and bitterness coupled with oaky and dry flavours and finishing with a ton of alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice barley wine with good flavours and a rich finish showing some nutty and earthy finishes that shows some alcohol, but relatively smooth for the style. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 05-December-2016 for US$9,99 sampled at home in Washington on Christmas Day, 25-December-2016.

Appearance: clear brown with amber-brown highlights, one finger of creamy light tan head that retains well, light lacing. (4/5) Aroma: molasses, chocolate syrup, caramel, dark boozy fruit, light coffee. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Medium-full slightly slick body, moderate carbonation, lingering sweetish and warming finish. (4/5)
Nice. Opens up nicely as it warms, developing rich and complex flavours on a medium-full body, with a pronounced but not harsh alcohol warming. The sweetness is high but not cloying, and smoothly transitions into pleasant coffee-like tones, but remains a bit sticky on the finish. 650ml bottle pours a deep amber color with a vigorously poured finger and a half of light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is big caramel with some raisins and a bit of alcohol. Taste is a raisiny and caramel malty sweetness with a herbal bitterness with some alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, quite sweet for the style, but still an enjoyable brew. Bebum (993) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 16, 2016
Dark amber, clear, covering lace.
Full body, well flavored, very hot, silky and spicy mouthfeel, lasting aftertaste.
Sweet and bitter.
Intensely malty, jammy, yeasty, tropical fruit (uva de cavalo), sherry.
Not very subtle but delicious all the same.

Draft at Ei8ht Ball, served in a flight. Pours a cloudy browned amber with a small off-white head that settles into a ring. Notes of toasted, caramel, and chocolate malts, dark fruits, earth, and even a little bit of light funkiness. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty, sweet, earthy, lightly funky mouthfeel. Really nice, left-of-center barley wine. Might be the last Pretty Things beer I have. It’s a good one. fonefan (49437) - VestJylland, DENMARK - AUG 6, 2015

Nice brown color with a tan head. Brown sugar, golden raisins, sweet but not cloying, bready, spice cake, nice stuff! flip_soeperman (880) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 26, 2015
Although the aroma is slightly metallic, there are some herbal hops there, and a lot of raison/bread. The body is full and pleasant, warming beer. Very English. kaser (6312) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 28, 2015
Quality. Brown draft pour at Firetruck brewery. Thick with off white head. Brown sugar and very sweet. A ton going on in this beer. Complex and I honesty can’t think of it as a barleywine. I like it
