No head, raisins swimming around. It smells fruity, sweet, raisins, blacksugary. The taste is same like smell plus creamy, aromatic. Good but easy, refreshing Kvass. 11/10/11/11/-/10

(Rating #4192)

My Bottom Line:
Portentous cumin and allspice switch to raisin-y sweetness and fruity acridness in this mineral, watery Gira.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is no head of foam atop the murky pale brown.
-The intense carbonation is overdone, giving a mineral flavor throughout.
-The nose and flavor profile are way too intensely spicy to be anywhere near engaging.
-This was not a good introduction to the Lithuanian version of Kvass, I’m afraid.

On tap at the brewpub.

Presumably from a pitcher or polypin (Prie Katedros, Vilnius)
4 Smells of paint - a bit solventy, but not really nasty. Just a certain spike that stands out. Also a bit milky.
2 Muddy turbidity. Raisins in it rise over time - a bit scary.
5 Pretty mellow yeastiness. A bit watery. Not really getting much evidence of fermentation, even though there’s loads of yeast. The raisins have lost a lot of their flavour, so clearly they’ve been in there a long time. They’re all puffed up too, so you know it has been fermenting, even though it tastes so raw. There are tons of raisins, you get several with every mouthful. Pretty spicy otherwise- a touch herby and grassy.
2 Transient watery palate.
9 Seems a bit raw and yeasty, but it’s a very easy drink.
