loubar (157) - Los Gatos, California, USA - MAR 23, 2015
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2015 500 ml bottle from BevMo. Nose of yeast and mild vanilla. Mild roasted malt, pleasant caramel taste. Slightly smoky. Silky mouth feel. No hops bitterness. Good carbonation with a semi-dry finish that makes it very easy to drink. Light, yet flavorful. Love the low ABV.

Aroma: melanoidins, dark roasted malts, caramel, sweet. Appearance: dark brown color, nice thin beige head. Taste: medium bitterness (herbs), iron, dark roasted malts, caramel, bready, coffee substitute, quite watery. Palate: low body and medium carbonation, roasted finish. Overall: Not so bad, there is only one problem with iron.

Sweet caramel aroma lets you know what you are getting into. Pours deep amber with a thin white head. Tastes like an unfinished beer. Tastes like something not fully carbonated and not fully attenuated. Not a great example of the style and way too sickeningly sweet and buttery to be drinkable. May be an old bottle as there is almost no hop character in this whatsoever. Just cloying, sweet, bready, caramelly malt.
