This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

500ml bottle as König Ludwig Weissbier Hell. Hazy light brown color, white lively head on top. Looks very nice. Ripened bananas, fruity, yeast and malty notes in aroma. Grainy, banana, wheat, buttery notes in flavor. Bites the tongue and then mellows down really quickly. Slightly thin, but still very drinkable.

0.5 l bottle as ’König Ludwig Weissbier Hell’, best before March 2017. Hazy, golden yellow with a large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy aroma of banana and cloves. Sweetish, rather yeasty-spicy and a bit chalky taste of banana, cloves and some vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter, quite yeasty-spicy and a little sourish finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent!

Uklar gulbrun farge med luftig hvitt skum. Lukter av banan, korn og litt sitrus. Frisk medium fylde og masser av co2. Søtlig avslutning.

It pours a unclear honey like orange mat beer. Head is big and creamy but not long lasting. Aroma is weak, almost not recognizable but some yeast is notable. Flavor is unsurprisingly flat. Some malt, low banana flavor are overwhelmed by a sour taste and a medium carbonation which leads to sour yeasty short finish. Not sure why, but my wife likes this Beer, me not at all.

Light esters, grain malts, citrus fruits. Hazy gold, big, frothy, white head. Light bitter. More grain, wheat malts, citrus fruits, some sweet grain malts coming up, lively carbonation, medium bodied. Quite citrusy, a bit unbalanced. Keg at Wenlock Arms, Hoxton.

Pours hazy yellow with medium white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, flour, fruits, herbs, sweetness, white bread, freshness. Taste is quite same - fresh and proper. Nice beer!

Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow. Nose is faint banana, floral, bubblegum. Palate is easy going, banana, hints of bread. Short bitter finish. Less tart and intense weizen.

Upon opening the bottle, I was greeted with foam eruption. Pours light golden, maybe honey color. Pretty cloudy. Big clump of sediment in the bottom of the glass. About 4 fingers white head. Not long lasting. Not much retention. Not much lacing.

Aroma is wheat and yeast. Lots of it. Some butterscotch, banana. Maybe some clove.

Taste is wheat bread. Some spicy hops. Some banana.

Mouthfeel is light. Watery. Not at all bitter, though a touch spicy. Sessionable. Easy to drink.

Overall, not bad. I expected more. A little bland, but I’d buy it again. I’d recommend this to a light beer drinker for a change of pace.

Pours light golden and cloudy with a small off white head. Nose of baked beans. Really creamy in the mouth with wheat and banana. A nice wheat beer.
