This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers! 12.5°

Has the typical look and smell of a hefe, but a bit weak in the taste, a bit disappointing.

Flasche im Hackendahl's in Berlin-Mitte. Trübes Gelb, kleinporiger Schaum. Aroma: Banane, etwas Hopfen, Zitrone. Geschmack: Säuerlich, etwas Banane, Hauch von Milchsäure.

My favorite Hefeweizen from the bottle. König Ludwig = Prinzregent Luitpold. Has all the features a Hefeweizen should have: Opaque yellow-golden, big, lasting head, flavors of grain, yeast and a tender note of banana. Perfection!

500ml bottle from LCBO. 5.5% alc./vol. Pours a clear golden colour with four fingers of white head. Aromas of bread and bananas. Taste matches the aroma. Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Much lighter tasting than your usual weisse. Not bad at all.

Creamy white head stayed on a hazy orange coloured body. Orange & yeast aroma. Medium bodied, creamy & smooth. Bitter/Sweet citrus, yeast, spices & banana tastes with a tangy finish

Aroma: yeast and sour dough profile. Wet grains, ripe bananas, spices. Taste is faint lemon zest, spicy coriander, bananas, sour dough. Medium-light body, good carbonation. Refreshing, above average weizen.

Bottle from LCBO. I was at a local brewpub -- Eastbound Brewing -- last night & made the mistake of ordering their bland hefe. This bottle comes as a relief. Beautiful pour, with a hazy egg yolk yellow with a two finger creamy cap on top. Rich wheat, smooth banana notes, very subtle clove. Carbonation is a tad flaccid. Smooth hot summer session starter.

Light gold, slightly cloudy, plenty of white head. Medium body. Really good aroma with banana, clove, peppery spice, caramel. Flavour on the sweeter side for the style but acceptably so.

500ml bottle. Pours a cloudy pale gold with a three finger off-white cap. Very unique nose for a hefeweizen. Caramel, light apple notes, banana pudding with aromas that seem more "spiced Christmas ale" than hefeweizen. Cinnamon, clove, and even faint note of gingerbread. It smells fantastic. Taste wise, heavy carbonation and medium sweet with banana notes up front, light orange peel, faint clove, and a little bit of spice on the tongue that leads into maltier notes, clove, yeast, more spice on the tongue, with some mineral notes in the finish. This is really solid. I would totally buy it again. I’m kind of surprised by the low ratings.

Pours a cloudy golden-amber colour with a creamy cap, decent lasting with some soapy lacing. Cereal grain smell with some rye notes and darker malts. Some sweetness comes out of it eventually. The wheat balances the darker malts as flavours, and hints of banana are felt. Smooth finish, but some richness gets a little too heavy overall. Maybe need to chug cold next one.
