This is Royal Barvarian Hefeweizen. Why are the Bavarian Royal Family and King Ludwig so important to brewing history? The Bavarian Royal Family had sole rights to brewing Hefe-Weizen on Bavaria for over 200 years. No wonder we are the leading experts on wheat beers!

A pretty standard, well-made Hefe. Pours the typical hazy gold with a frothy white head that leaves some lacing. Aromas mostly consisting of spices, bubblegum and bananas. Flavors of bananas, spices and some citrus. Creamy mouthfeel with a sweet finish. Nothing spectacular, just a good Hefe.

Better than any north american wheat for sure. But below average for the Germans. Definitely worth drinking for a wheat in Canada.

Bottle - Pours a hazy pale gold, sudsy cream head. Aroma of wheat malts, cloves, hint of banana, yeast, light fruits. Flavors of the same, with a yogurt aftertaste, mild hops.

Fles gedeeld door Inoven, Geproefd met Benzai en Roelzie. Het is een lekker bier, redelijk pilsachtig.

Aroma: Citrus and herbs notes. Appearance: Golden color with cloudy liquid and a soft white head. Taste: Medium sweet notes and very light bitterness. Palate: Light body with creamy texture and average carbonation. Very subtle sweet finish. Overall: Very soft wheat beer but with a nice body. Refreshing but it doesn’t leave a memory.

0.5 l bottle as ’König Ludwig Weissbier Hell’, best before March 2017. Hazy, golden yellow with a large, foamy, stable, white head. Sweetish, yeasty-spicy aroma of banana and cloves. Sweetish, rather yeasty-spicy and a bit chalky taste of banana, cloves and some vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter, quite yeasty-spicy and a little sourish finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent!

Uklar gulbrun farge med luftig hvitt skum. Lukter av banan, korn og litt sitrus. Frisk medium fylde og masser av co2. Søtlig avslutning.

Heidelbeer (27) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JAN 25, 2017
It pours a unclear honey like orange mat beer. Head is big and creamy but not long lasting. Aroma is weak, almost not recognizable but some yeast is notable. Flavor is unsurprisingly flat. Some malt, low banana flavor are overwhelmed by a sour taste and a medium carbonation which leads to sour yeasty short finish. Not sure why, but my wife likes this Beer, me not at all.
