COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is no other way to describe this beer- The Ella IPA is a hop-bomb. There are many variations within this style and Ella is a true Northwest IPA. The malt character is provided by 100% Maris Otter; a robust two-row grain malted by hand in England. Hops are Simcoe for bittering and Amarillo for aroma. Citrusy and resinous, Amarillo has become a popular choice for IPA brewers and hop-heads.

Draught @ the brewery. Pours a clear golden copper colour with a white head. Nose is subtle mix of grains and grass. Flavour is a serious hop bomb, it is as described however too much old style hop bitterness for my personal tastes.

On tap at the brew pub it is a clear golden color with a slight head. The aroma is citrus and the taste is strong and bitter with me distinguishable flavor maybe some pepper that makes it bitter?

On Tap at the brewpub, in Pendleton, OR. Hazy deep orange amber with a very nice lasting creamy white head. Big fresh citrus aroma, flavor is hoppy and grassy with some fumy notes of cleaner or furniture polish. Not much, but ts there. The bitterness fades quickly and the finish is pretty quick and dry.

Growler from the brewpub. Light bitterness with a funky malty sweetness in the background. Citrus and a hint of pine. Bitterness gets stronger at the finish.

On tap @ Horse Brass blind IPA tasting. This one was in the middle of the pack for me. Lots of citrus, caramel and toasty malt. The malt brings some sweetness but not overwhelming. Clean and good.
