COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scotch Ale is a traditional style strong pale ale like the brews that were imported from across the ocean during a time when getting a drink meant breaking the law. This dark, crisp scotch ale delivers just like those demanded in the blind pigs and speakeasy’s of days gone by. Prohibition’s complex, refreshing, honest flavors are craft brewed in small batches at a small unassuming brewery in British Columbia, Canada. Only the finest ingredients including pristine Canadian water, hops and malts are used to bring you a scotch ale so good you’d ask for it even if it was prohibited.

cards04 (2827) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - AUG 30, 2015
Not bad. Better than the ipa. Pours a copy colour. Aromas are at first metallic...then warm up to bubblegum, vanilla and molasses. Very similar flavours with a wet dog like finish. Decent...but quite forgettable.

northropfrye (3662) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - AUG 10, 2015
Orange/amber clear body with lasting foaming off white head and nice lacing. Aroma of sweet grains, maybe some dried fruit, butterscotch. Taste is sweet and malty, the faintest touch of roast, but too subtle and watery. Overall, not bad.

ljthiessen (1391) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JUL 23, 2015
Bottle. Clear, reddish amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is fairly sweet and sugary, some caramel and brown sugar, toasty malts. Flavour is also sweet and sugary, a little thin for the sweetness, caramel and brown sugar, a touch of dried fruit. Not a bad flavour, but zero bitterness for balance and pretty boring.

3.4
Reimer96 (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - JAN 2, 2015
Pours a clear brownish amber with a huge frothy tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, smoke, vanilla, light coconut, light chocolate and nuts. Taste is caramel, toffee, some bitter cocoa/chocolate, some smoke and campfire and a bit of an off metallic taste. Nice creamy mouthfeel with a prickly carbonation but the body seems a touch light. Overall a nice scotch ale with alot of flavor just needs a tad more body.

2.9
exeter (535) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 1, 2014
Pours a good head with excellent lacing right to the bottom. The colour is dark copper. Starts off with sweet caramel malts, herbal taste and light citrus. Perhaps too much bitterness in the after taste. It’s a good beer but maybe the balance is off for a scotch ale.

DuffMan (10549) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 6, 2014
Bottle, shared with Grippitis and Parksy. Tawny amber, gold-tinted head. Sweet caramel, a touch of overripe apple, bready malts. Nice enough.

2.9
dfinney23 (3394) - Houston, Texas, USA - SEP 17, 2014
Pours clear amber with two fingers of slowing fading foam. Aroma of caramel and a bit of roast. Way too sweet. Aftertaste is bitter but it doesn’t blend with the sweetness in a pleasant way. It’s just sweet until you swallow, then bitter until taking another swig.

3.2
AgentAle (1783) - Alberta, CANADA - SEP 6, 2014
Aromaa is sweet malts, rich scotch dry malts, caramel. Taste is sweet malts with slight bitterness that is fairly well balanced. Appearance is a clear brown with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

robinvboyer (4719) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 7, 2014
Overly sweet, loads of burnt sugars, and deep burnt malt aromas. Light wood, some dark fruit. Man, is this sweet! No hops to speak of, just a mess of burnt, sugary, overly sweet malts. This was a drain pour.

2.8
mcberko (18422) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 29, 2014
On tap at Prohibition, pours a hay amber with a medium beige head. Aroma and flavour of bready caramel malts, light dark fruitiness, and toffee. Decent scotch - acceptable.
