4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On tap at Proof. Topped with graham cracker bits. Pours a deep almost opaque brown with thick tan head that lasted really well. Aroma was of toasted nuts, brown sugar and chocolate. Really great taste too. Everything I would want in a s’more and more! Really well balanced for all the ingredients. Good lacing too. Nice medium-full body and well carbonated. I wish this hadn’t ran out within a few hours!
Tried this back-to-back with the orange vanilla, and this got edged out. Great appearance - inky with a stiff khaki head. Pecan pie finish, that gets a little sticky. Definitely dessert-y. Initially a little acidic, butterscotch has an interesting diacteyl play. Toasted coconut notes. Moderately sweet. Lost my notes, have to re-rate. Think I like the base beer, Ghost Totem Porter a little better without this treatment. On tap, Proof Production. LuckyDog (615) - - JUN 21, 2014
This is the Proof Robust Porter with vanilla, butter scotch, and coconut. The coconut comes through on the aftertaste. The vanilla hits on the initial taste. The butter scotch just rounds it out. Great addition to a fine base porter. PorterPounder (7968) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2014
Tallahassee, Fl. - on tap at the Proof Tap Room. Deep, dark brown pour, sticky mocha colored head that sticks around a while. Aroma has some molasses notes, a touch of kid’s vitamins. Hearty flavor with some light bourbon notes, a touch of bittersweet baker’s chocolate, some creosote and a hint of coconut. Mouthfeel has a pleasant thickness to it. Pours a dark brownish black on tap with fluffy tan brown head that leaves light lace. Aroma is sweet butterscotch and chocolate, nice roasted malt back. Taste follows, slight bitter finish with a lingering sweetness. Velvety mouth, very nice.
