Pretty much a perfect dry stout. Very creamy body, of course this was helped by the nitro addition. Nice aromas and flavors of charcoal, light soy sauce, wood and chocolate. Slightly bitter finish. This beer is certainly on par with Guinness or Murphy’s. drowland (9057) - Georgia, USA - AUG 4, 2015
4/3/15. On tap, nitro. Black pour with a nice creamy khaki head, great lacing of course, via nitro. Light aroma, dry roasted malts, black patent, mild meatiness, chocolate, coffee. Good flavor, much better than most Irish type stouts, which I’m not a huge fan of in general. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, doughy, ashy and nice without getting too deep into meat and soy sauce. Tasty. LuckyDog (615) - - MAR 7, 2015
Served on nitro at the brewery. Very smooth. Great roast flavor. Light hops. PorterPounder (8283) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 5, 2014
UPDATED: APR 30, 2015 Rerate Revisited this after a year - much more roasted notes and smokiness - bump up a few notches Original 3.6 Tallahassee, Fl. - Proof Brewing Company - on tap. Dark black pour, thick mocha colored head with nice thick sticky lacing. Somewhat of an eggy aroma with a hint of cocoa. Flavor has some nice black dirt accents, some licorice notes and cocoa permeating throughout. Decent chalky mouthfeel. Enjoyed with Aurelius. DialSquare (5129) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2014
From a brief phone note: on tap at proof. Guiness + hops. Creamy nitro. Refreshing nutty, cocoa. Nice enough. 7.2

Nitro. Short, creamy tan head. Onyx beer. Mild, nutty roast aroma. Very pleasant and smooth - moderately roasty, light nutty sweetness.. Bitter finish with green nuts and roast. Slippery mouth. Implied dark cocoa, light pencil shavings. Pretty good, not overly aggressive. Let it warm for full complexity. On tap, in the aftermath of St. Paddy’s, Proof downstairs.
