COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

650 ml bottle produced Sept 07. Pours hazy orange and is topped with a rocky off white cap, leaving good sticky lace. Grainy nose comes equipped with lots of fruit (pear, peaches) and caramel malts, with a touch of spiciness and pine. Tastes of sweet caramel and fruit with good bready component, leading to sharp piney hops and grapefruit. Dry, pleasant mouthfeel. Good. Thanks to my mom for the bottle.

Thanks to OKBeer for this Canadian gem. Pour is beautiful copper color with minimal white head. Aroma is hops and bubblegum up front with malt, grapefruit hops, and yeast in back. Flavor is hops, malt, oregano, and yeast with a mild chemical background. Finish is crisp and refreshing. Solid stuff.

The Propeller brewery always pleases me. This one pours a nice penny color with a very small but lasting head. This brew doesnt lace the glass. I think it is a bit too tame. Should have everything as is but up the intensity on it all.

On tap at Propeller in Halifax. Pours out golden topped with a tall fluffy head. Aroma was of citrus hops, grape fruit juice, light pine, and a good amount of toast. Taste was more of the grapefruit citrus hops, some lemon zest and a good malt backbone. Not a over the top IPA just a casual drinker.

Clear amber and orangey colour with a one finger head that turns into a sticky ring of lace. The aroma is spicy, piney, and floral but not quite as potent as I have experienced in other American IPAs. The taste is more assertive with some hints of toffee and strong citrus. There is nice bitter finish to each sip. This beer goes down quite smooth. This is one of the more well balanced IPAs Ive enjoyed.

This was a pretty good IPA. Fresh tasting hops, biscuity malt profile, and a nice balance between the two.

This is a decent hoppy beer. It pours clear golden and clear with a big foamy head. Nose is citrus zest, mango and some woody pine. Some sweetness brings out the pine in a pleasant way. This is very bitter which does a great deal to bake the full bodied sugary sweetness. It finishes with a bit of tropical fruit and piney, resinous bitterness. Not bad.

Aroma of sour fruit and malt. Pours a caramel color with short lasting white well laced head. Taste of fruit and malt with a dry medium bodied feel and a chalky slight bitter finish.

Draft in Halifax. Hazy orange body, huge off-white head. The aroma is misty with berries, the taste full and grapefruit with a long smooth finish.

Sampled from the tap at Maxwells Plum. Pours a clear gold with a white head throughout the beer and laces. Aroma has sweet citrus and grass with a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has a nice sweet citrus with light grain and a bit of hay backing.
