COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not for the faint of heart. True India Pale Ales had to withstand long sea voyages before slaking the thirst of cranky British troops stationed in the heat of India. Bracing, bitter, higher in alcohol. Trademark Propeller quality. A full-bodied ale for full-throttle beer lovers. Drink fresh.

The beer pours a translucent metallic gold with a slow forming snow white head. The aroma is citrus, caramel, and earthy notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is light grapefruit, some caramel, some grains, and a decent bitter finish. Quite good.

Tap @ Henrys House & 650ml bottle from Bishops Cellar. Muddy light brown, good head. Like hop aroma. Resin boiled sweet flavour. Bitter hoppy aftertaste. Reasonable IPA. Bottle better than tap.

light gold color small whtie head. Smells of passion fruit & light sweet citrus w/ a carmel back. Palte is only avg. Flavor is a sweet light malt hitns of tropical fruits no real bitterness. Reminded me of a weak try at exponential hoppiness.

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A veil of head remains over the clear tan-orange.
-A wooden, sandy, resinous hop perfume (Simcoe?) subtly seduces the nostrils.
-Caramel maltiness and citrusy, floral hoppiness coalesce smoothly.
-Mouthfeel and carbonation are a little lazy, but they do their job of carrying the restrained flavors.

What if you dig deeper?
-Some butterscotch appears in the nose, but not too agressively.
-A frank hop bitterness showers the finale.
-Peaches and citrus pulp ease the quaffing.
-Halfway between British and American IPA, this remains drinkable and friendly all the way through.

Bottle; produced the 2nd week of March (2006 I presume).

porterhouse (1580) - Boothbay, Maine, USA - JUN 13, 2007
(650 ml bottle (produced in week 1, May 07) from the brewery) Nice, a little light in just about every way...Pours light slightly amberish gold with three fingers of pillowy white head. Sweetish aroma of light toffee, pine and flowers. Mouthfeel smooth, feels a bit light. Lots of foamy rings and sheets of lacing. Flavor is good but on the mild (and probably filtered) side - light malt sweetness overlain by medium bitterness with pine and flowery, very lightly fruity hops. Slight metallic taste detected a couple of times.
