This beer was born for greatness. Sent by English brewers via the Baltic Sea to the court of the Czars, Russian Imperial Stout was brewed to very high gravities and allowed to ferment on the long voyage. The result? A dark, strong and bracing brew, imbibed by Peter, adored by Catherine and now reclaimed by you, the People. Za Vas!

2 year old bottle. Deep dark brown with beastly a tint on the side with a thin tan head. Smells of slight herbal hops, coffee and chocolate roast, dark malt and mocha. Still a bit bubbly after two years but smooth. Starts sweet and finishes dry and bitter without any hint of the 8%. Lots of chocolate and mocha with fudge - by the way, I paired this with chocolate fudge cheese. Great after two years and totally worth the wait.

Bottle from the Liquor Store on PEI Pours a solid black color with a huge frothy tan head that persists forever. Vinous chocolate fudge and caramel maltiness dominate the aroma. Light earthy floral round out the nose. The flavor is rich thick chocolate caramel and roast with quite a vinous fruity edge to it. Light smoke and earth round us out nicely. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a rich creamy ashy mouthfeel. Wow thats a pretty nice stout right there! Reminds me a lot of Bells Expedition, I really enjoyed this.

Maybe its just me but I really enjoy when the head on a dark beers hangs around for a bit. This ones didnt but it was still a great beer. Quite bliggity black, this one, an aroma of coffee, maple, roasty chocolate malt and brown sugar. Its quite boldly bitter at first with a strong molasses kick but leaves the tongue basking in a light sweet finish. Fairly oily feel to a medium thick body. Very enjoyabeer.

I was excited about this one, and it didnt let me down. Poured black with creamy tan head. Stunk of coffee, nuts, and molasses. Tasted of big molasses, strong coffee, and brown sugar. Had copious amounts of big boozy warmth. Had a heavy oily body that coats your tongue with a bitter aftertaste. Great brew.

pours clear dark brown with a small creamy beige head, some retention and lacing. bitter chocolate, bitter coffee, some resin, chalk, nutty fruitiness, warming alcohol, dusty and woodsy notes, hint of smoke. moderate sweetness - balanced by a bold hopping. moderate carboantion, medium body - sily and velvety, coffee and grassy-resinous finish. relatively complex and expertly crafted. solid.

500ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours a deep black with a light tan head. Hefty roasty malt aroma overwhelms, with a hint of coffee and a bit of tire. Sweet maltiness with some coffee and dried fruits. Dry and sticky on the palate. Very warming and enjoyable.

Very, very dark brown, almost black, with a khaki head. Heavy on the roasted malt aromas with some dark fruit, licorice, and coffee. Dark chocolate, burnt sugar, and a hint of molasses. The flavor is a touch bitter, but has a lot of sweetness from the burnt sugar, licorice, and molasses. Big roasted malt and coffee, some dark chocolate, and a touch of alcohol.
