COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This IPA is named in honor of proud heritage of the 39th Airlift Squadron. The original Squadron patch was designed as winged coffin. Apparently the powers that be in higher headquarters were not amused, and the squadron was directed to submit a new design. According to Bud Tuley, the units 3rd Commanding officer, they just added wheels and a cover to made it a flying covered wagon - or a flying, wheeled coffin - take your choice. The beer is created using caramel and pilsner malts for a rich golden red color and brewed Zythos hops for a strong aroma.

Just a weird beer for me. Aroma had Belgian, peaty thing going on. Beer was all over the board, thinnish and homebrewy. Clear, lightish bronze. On tap, Craft Bar, Panama City Beach.

12 ounce can. Pours golden red with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and malt. Taste is citrus, pine, tropical, and caramel malt. OK.

Draft at Fuel in Niceville. Clear bronze color with white bubbles. Light aroma of citrus fruit and sweeter malt. Pretty nice flavor; light sweetness and medium lingering bitterness. Nice pale ale.

On tap-retaining tight lt tan-gold. A-resin, lt/med malt-toasty. T-follows with some caramel. Leans to the malty side. Had just left a previous brewery that said open till 9, they were still serving at 9:30. Arrived here 10:08pm, their website says open till 12am. The lights were turned down, all chairs were flipped up on tables, the open sign dark, 6 servers were ready to leave. Oops.

Pours a cloudy medium amber color. Floral hop aroma with some caramel malts. Flavor is citrusy, could use more hops.

Draft flight pour at the brewery. Deep ruddy amber pour. Heavy lacing. Aroma is slightly sweet and grassy. Taste is bitter, grassy, sticky resiny hops. Faint caramel malt backbone. Pretty nice. Easy drinking.

Draft at the brewpub. A very dark, rustic-looking brew. Well bodied. This is a chewy one. It’s super malty and more Continental than the newer breeds of American IPAs; definitely not for the "Westies" but a good drink. (#5968, 5/14/2015)

Deep, dark amber colored pour. Big off-white head. Some lacing. Big hoppy aroma. Some notes of malt. Taste is a nice hop explosion. Some malt. Some caramel. Not bad. Not that balanced, and lacking a bit.

At the brewery. Pours a clear pale copper. Vigorously carbonated but no head. Unusual hop aroma, crisp clean palate with decent ephemeral bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
