1.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2015 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear (at least this bottle, more later) medium brown with an off-white head. The aroma is of Altbier and I believe that the proper yeast was used. The color is a bit too light for me. The flavor is quite thin and I miss the hop bite. All in all a decent, but not very exciting brown ale and a very disappointing Alt. I am somewhat confused by the label calling this "German style pale ale". That would fit a Kölsch, but certainly not a traditional Düsseldorf Altbier. Finally, I have also noticed that sometimes the beers from this brewery are crystal clear and sometimes they are cloudy. You may have 3 clear ones in a six pack and 3 cloudy ones when served at the very same temperature. So this would not appear to be chill haze, but rather filtration problems. I really wonder why this brewery has not hired a German brewer to show them how to make German beer. Their beers are all show and no substance.
Bottle in Keystone. Pours clear copper with a frothy head. The nose has toasted grains, brown bread. Light sweet flavour with more grainy, lightly toasted malts, mellow bitterness, a little earth. Light bodied with average carbonation. Toasted grains in the finish. Easygoing, good. slowrunner77 (13006) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 2, 2017
Dark amber brown, slightly cloudy. Malty nose and flavor. Bready, leather...all pretty mellow. Wanted this to stand out more. AaronTDubs (500) - - JUN 9, 2017
Amber color. Almost no head. Has a malty, fruity aroma, dried fruits. Taste is malty and fruity, sweet and rich. Nice beer. Dogbrick (14009) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - APR 27, 2017
Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium thick light beige head that recedes gradually to a film. Stringy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, hops and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted nuts, caramel malt and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a roasty malt aftertaste. Decent overall. wlajwl (7127) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - JAN 23, 2017
Aroma is very earthy, dark malts and mild fruit. The flavor is fruit/berries, malts, earthy in the middle and a tart/slightly sweet/dry finish.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2017 Stinging sharp carbonation. could barely pour this. the taste is mild and malty, a tad bitter on the back side. I could do with this if it wasn’t so god damn carbonated. ....... actually this beer sucks. hayduke (5703) - Eureka, California, USA - JAN 4, 2017
Given to me by RoosterJack. Pours a dark amber color with an off-white head and light lacing. Nose of caramel malts and some dark fruit. Medium body. Flavor is mostly malt with a hint of hops. Sweet finish. OK. sawbuck (767) - Round Lake, Illinois, USA - JAN 4, 2017
Huge malt on the nose, sweet caramel/bread is about all. Seems over carbed.....huge tan head....waited a couple minutes to settle. Sweet malt up front. Sweet caramel, some light toffee notes. Bitterness is thin and muddy, not super balanced with sweetness. Very high carbonation. Finish is a bit dull. Average. Will give this another go, as not sure this batch was kosher. 12 oz. bottle, from the variety pack. Pours hazy brown, with a neverending foamy, off-white head. The nose is anise, oak, dank hops, and vinegar. Sweet and malty, with an awful bitterness. Medium body, sharp, and sticky. This is a pretty poor beer. Thankfully the massive foam dampens our the aromas. AleJones (26) - Colorado, USA - OCT 26, 2016
Deep, dark red in color. Very clear. Malts dominate, very carbonated mouth feel. Sharp, clean finish. Great example of the style
