Tap at brewery. Dark slightly hazy chestnut brown with a thin off-cream head. Aroma is hard to pin down, kinda herbal and sweet, like honey and ginger with an earthy toffee maltiness backbone. Flavor is clean and sweet, like a candy. Flavors of ginger and honey come back, with some light herbal tones, and a clean sweet finish of toffee and honey.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark murky brown-red pour with thin off white head, aroma brought notes of some trashy notes of slight earth, touch of white fruit, mix of cracker, slight butter, touch of toffee, very odd. Taste is slight off fruits, some biscuit, toffee, touch of buttery earth, some spicy notes, finishing fairly sweet. Definitely something odd, gives a sort of weird sickly sweet. On tap at the brewery. Pour is deep amber with a small white head. Aromas of banana, roast, cocoa, fruity esters, and cinnamon. Taste is very fruity, banana, spice, caramel, roasted malt, and bread ending somewhat funky, but I kind of dig it. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Tap @ Prost. Fairly cloudy, dark orange/brown appearance with an off white head. Kind of buttery, light butterscotch, caramel, tangy banana, a touch tart aroma. Smells off. Draft sample on opening night and again over the weekend. Truly one of the dirtier beers I have tried in some time. Repelling odors of hippopotamus exhibit and nursing home, along with the dreaded vanilla taffy yeastiness in the nose. Rotting fruit aromas and nonexistent malt. Limp in body with a curious absence of defined malt (and they are apparently employing decoction mashing?!?!), with notes of rotting plums and wort. This isn’t even beer...it’s more like cola and spoiled fruit juice with raw yeast tossed in. I hope the brewers are not satisfied with this as something obviously has gone terribly awry. But, judging from their other lackluster offerings, which were merely a marginal step up upon this, I will assume this is par for the Prost course. Positively foul, sadly.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2012 draft at the brewery. strange nose is heavy with sweet / browned banana esters, soggy bran bread cola-scented malt, very light noble hop pepperiness, a bland touch of browned red apple and a heavier dose of what seems like candy sugar. light body with fizzy and rough carbonation give it surprising wateriness and flabbiness. the malt is far too loose and the carbonation weak and thin, and minerals and candy sugar sweetness abound, giving it a very sweet and very stale presence. sourish cola-like malt shows up late, as does an obtrusive fusel alcohol note (which I suspect is responsible for the mild headache I have the morning after). the whole "this was a batch of hefeweizen gone wrong" thing, plus the fusels, well, it makes sense to me. by the end, flavorwise, it’s almost more like German malzbier than any sort of dunkelweisse; very disappointing first taste at the brewery. Dark amber - nose is dry cocoa, strong clove, light banana, some tangy wheat - flavor is semi-dry, with some chocolate, banana, clove, light pepper - some warming spiciness in the finish - rich dark wheat malt character throughout - on par with the hefe - nice.
