glennmastrange (2899) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 25, 2008
Bottle. Moderate malt notes of grain and caramel, light hop notes of herbs, light dough for the yeast, with butterscotch, brown sugar and vanilla in the background. Head is small, wispy, white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear brown. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, then finishes lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery, and has a lively carbonation. A good beer, but I didn’t find anything unique in it that would make me think this a Scottish Ale. Not that I know what defines a Scottish Ale

Pours a chestnut brown. Aromas of raisin bread and smoked meat. Similar flavors. The smoke is a bit too prevelant for me.

bulldogops (2726) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 6, 2013
Bottle. 4.8%. Dark brown/black pour (colour of an irish stout) with a bubbly tan foam with medium retention. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee. Taste is quite sweet at first, malt and toffee, but quite lightbodied. Rather bitter and bland through the finish. Meh.

radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 2, 2008
Clear deep ruby in colour, large and lingering tan coloured head, light lacing. The aroma is of caramel, moderate sweetness, malty with some chocolate. The flavour is malty and quite sweet but at the same time watery and thin. Watery mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes malty and sweet.

This is thin and watery pretty much from start to finish but it is enjoyable. Lacking oomph.

341ml bottle obtained in a trade with OKBeer, thanks Bobby.

12oz bottle via trade with JoeMcPhee! - Thanks Joe! - Pours dark copper with a 1 finger tan creamy head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Light aroma of smoky roasted malts and caramel. Flavor is delightfully smoky with notes of caramel and chocolate. Lots of roasty notes throughout. Very earthy. Medium bodied without much carbonation. Easy drinking. A very tasty and pleasant surprise!

Gethinbeer (2452) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - DEC 28, 2007
From bottle. Deep musky brown in appearance with a quick dissipating head. Smoky aroma which is evident in the flavour of this beer also. If it wasn’t for the appearance this beer probably would have got more. Good beer.

VertBaconStrips (2395) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - JUN 17, 2009
Poured out a solid red brew covered with a large thick tan head with nice retention and some patchy lacing. The aroma was really nice with its soft, fragrant impression with nice bready and caramel malts...seems like there is some roast here....or toast....kinda stuck in the middle with that one... The flavour is very good with ample caramel and solid toasted malts, toffee and smoke. Yum yum! A nice soft feeling beer with good carbonation, a good middle and finishes with a slight bitter and smoky aftertaste. The only negative that I can say about this beer is that is does come across watery.

rudolf (2360) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAY 11, 2008
Bottle from Gregclow - Thanks! Ruby body, frothy light tan head. Nose is somewhat raisiny, rich meladonins, smoke/light soy. Flavor is rich malt, lots of smoke, sweet caramel. A hint of hops round out the finish. More a smoked than a scotch but nice!

barncatmatt (2287) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 7, 2012
341ml bottle from jsprime. pours deep reddish brown with a tan head. smokey nose, backing dark fruity malt. flavour is similar. very 2 tone, smoke, dark malt. easy to drink. would buy if locally availible.

mds (2250) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 4, 2006
Bottle. Copper-mahogany body with a small white head. The aroma is quite smokey to start among notes of toast and caramel. The taste is thinner with significant maltiness having hints of smoke. Smoothy creamy body with low carbonation. Finishing slightly vegetal along with some mild chocolate.
