COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This deep red beer is our second hoppiest brew although not overly bitter due to the balance of malty sweetness imparted by the 80L Caramel malted barley. This beer would fall loosely in the American Amber category but has its own uniqueness imparted by a small dose of roasted barley. The beer is finished using the highest quality Mt. Hood hops.

As "Red Alert Amber" at 5.7& ABV and 24 IBU.
Clear brown color, tan head. Sweet, malt, roasted, taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high dry bitterness. Sweet, malty scent.

Sample at the brewery. Medium high fluffy white lasting head. Hazy red body. Cocoa caramel fruity sweet aroma andf flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a short finish.

Draught. Dark amber/red. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (citrus - grapefruit, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Rudimentary amber ale, but striking red color (befitting the theme of this brewpub).

On tap at the brewpub on 10/14/07: Clear amber copper with a wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet and toasty caramel malt. Body starts about average and quite drinkable with a touch of sweet caramel malt and grapefruity hops toward a crisp, bittersweet finish. A decent amber.

On tap at the brewpub, 4/13/06: Reddish, sure, but also copper. Very smooth. Lightly sweet. Easy to drink. bit of a sugary feel. Another well made, but uninspired offering here.
