COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This deep red beer is our second hoppiest brew although not overly bitter due to the balance of malty sweetness imparted by the 80L Caramel malted barley. This beer would fall loosely in the American Amber category but has its own uniqueness imparted by a small dose of roasted barley. The beer is finished using the highest quality Mt. Hood hops.

Ernest (7507) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 16, 2002
Draught. Dark amber/red. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (citrus - grapefruit, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Rudimentary amber ale, but striking red color (befitting the theme of this brewpub).

On tap at the brewpub on 10/14/07: Clear amber copper with a wispy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet and toasty caramel malt. Body starts about average and quite drinkable with a touch of sweet caramel malt and grapefruity hops toward a crisp, bittersweet finish. A decent amber.

On tap at the brewpub, 4/13/06: Reddish, sure, but also copper. Very smooth. Lightly sweet. Easy to drink. bit of a sugary feel. Another well made, but uninspired offering here.

Tap at the brewpub - a very malty amber ale, so much so that it is hard to even notice those hops trying to break through - very sweet, nutty, with touches of nutmeg and other spices (this makes things a little more interesting) - the boiled vegetable character I noticed in their IPA is even more noticeable here, and it really detracts from my enjoyment of the beer.
