A beautiful bright amber appearance with a lovely fruity nose. An initial red berry fruit flavour is followed by a butterscotch middle and a superb long caramel malt finish balanced out with a nice hop background. A great traditiional british ale with a great appearance and branding. Lets get some younger people drinking cask ales!!

Bottle chilled and poured at home. Clear amber with lasting, creamy white head; nose of malts, caramel, fruit, grass; zingy light bitterness on the toungue, giving way to fruits possibly orange with a sweetish caramel finish. Has a great balance bewteen caramel and punchy fruit flavours, which many red/amber ales fail to achieve. At the time of review only 5am Saint is a better representation of the style.

500ml bottle. Clear, amber colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Floral hoppy aroma, slightly nuttily, mellow malty background. Taste is floral and slightly fruity hoppy, minimally doughy malty, a touch of gooseberry and red berries, unripe peach; dry hoppy finish, almost lively, but fine and gentle carbonation. Very nice..

Bottle, 500 ml. Pours slightly hazy reddish amber with a small amount of soapy white head and some thin lacing. Lots of visible carb; small bubbles. Aroma is subdued but sweet and fruity with light caramel malts and a slight hoppy, citrus edge. Taste is moderate-to-strongly malty with lots of wholemeal bread, strong, lingering honey, orange, and dark fruits, again with a slight citrus hoppy edge. Sweet but not too sweet. Finish is unexpectedly long with honey and mild bitterness on the back and sides of the throat. Body is medium, texture is sticky but not too cloying, carbonation is medium. Solid, well-balanced, flavoursome stuff.

Amber and thin head. A little hoppier than I was expecting, but its mostly bitter without the flavor of the hops.

(Cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Tribute to Shakespeare, 20160903) The beer poured light brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toffee, milk chocolate and floralness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, malts, caramel, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, hoppy and bitter. A good but too sweet brew.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2016 Cask at Red Lion (Leytonstone). Clear dark amber with small, short-lived white head. Not pleasant aroma, mostly yeast. Taste of grain and yeast. Low bitterness, dry. Nothing special, definitely not for me.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with a one finger white head. Aroma: malt, caramel, citrus fruity hops. Taste: citrus fruit, peach, sweet caramel malt, light bitterness, finish wasnt that bitter either. Medium body, oily texture. Bitters arent usually my thing but I liked this one, though it felt more like a golden ale to be honest. Either way, a good, drinkable beer, albeit nothing spectacular.

Bottle from Waitrose. Beautiful deep brown/red beer, clear, small, tight off white head. Not much of an aroma, light malt/caramel. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth drinking archetypal bitter, malt, slight toffee, slight fruit. Ends up being much more than the sum of its parts and really rather good.
