Blasphemer (111) - Bavaria, GERMANY - JUN 12, 2012

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2007 Didn’t know this was retired. Had this some years ago on a trip to the Czech Republic had a liter stein of this after pints at U Flecku. My last beer on tap before we left for Munich on a night train. I didn’t think I was going to find this beer as it wasn’t even for sale at the very large Testco. Thought the beer was outstanding. Page 182 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide only 299 out of 500 Classics Brews to go.

Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 18, 2005
(Bottle 50 cl) One of the first dark, Czech lagers on the Danish market but later retired - and retired altogether. Believe it has been substituted with a Urquell Dark these days. Velvety softness with a licorice-like dryness not that different from dry Irish stout. But stronger and more fullbodied. Surprisingly strong ABV. An excellent dark.

Well, well, well... just another dark beer... I still have to wait to find one I will like..

A dry burnt chocolately mouthfeel. LAcking in the hop prsence of most of its countrymen but a great beer. Bring on the black bread and herring.

This is one of the most typecasted Schwarzbiers, dry fullbodied and a roasty burnt coffee palate a perfect companion to food.

Donatas (188) - Vilnius, LITHUANIA - DEC 28, 2002
Very dark color, burnt flavour, average bitterness. This makes very interesting taste. Not bad, indeed.

Dark brown. Medium bodied, roasty, velvetty mouthfeel. Rather dry. Well balanced.

Excellent ! Not as sweet as most Czech dark beers. Nice aroma, reminds me of coffee. Hard to think of anything negative.
