(Draught) Brown bubbly head with an opaque body. Coffee and caramel nose. Very roasted maltiness in flavour with keen coffee notes. The cocoa powder makes an appearance shortly in the finish. Good. Crit (4105) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 4, 2002

Black and creamy. Aroma of roasted malt. Slightly bitter. Roasted flavor. A touch of sourness. Very creamy mouthfeel. Bigger than most dry stouts. Fairly nice although something here is a little off. Yeast funk? stephen (308) - California, USA - DEC 1, 2002
Nitro, chocolate and coffee flavors. Mildly bitter. Pretty basic. Could use a drier finish. lunaticharness (183) - Torrance, California, USA - JUL 16, 2003

Very dark brown with a thick creamy head. Toasty, coffee, cocoa aroma. Bitter black coffee slightly chocolatey taste. Not creamy as the "nitro" moniker would suggest. elelwarren (140) - SF Bay area, California, USA - NOV 25, 2007
Tasted at Pyramid’s Berkeley brewpub as a taster set w/5 other beers. Beautiful in the glass- Cappucino-like thick head contrasting with dark brew below. Scent, though was of instant coffee-thin, unpleasant, almost medicinal. best part of the beer is how it feels in the mouth- as smooth as cream, with tiny nitogen bubbles accentuating the deep roasts. The beer then goes downhill. Sour at the end, with no more depth. A quick flavor. I kept sipping just for the wondrously smooth mouthfeel.
