Beautiful color. More of a dark ale than IPA with the perfect amount of hop aroma. Way to step it up Pyramid! yesyouam (1016) - Fairport, New York, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Pyramid Discord Black IPA is a dark berry colored beer. It’s almost black until you hold it to the light. It’s topped with a dense, waxy khaki foam that has outstanding retention and lacing. There are bright, citrusy hops in the aroma with notes of fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh cut fir... perhaps a hint of roast and ash. It’s medium bodied and foamy. It leaves the tongue dry and rough. It’s quite bitter. Pine resin fades into juniper and leaves a medicinal aftertaste. The dark malt is far in the background. This is all about the hops, for sure. This is not a timid beer, nor is it for the timid. This is a nice bitter slap in the face. Travlr (24277) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 30, 2010
Tap at Toronado SF, paired with a cheeseburger from next door (it was Tuesday). Clearish black, small tan head. Tons of roasted malts, coffee grounds, with a nice hoppy bite. I like black IPAs!!! scrizzz (2223) - Bothell, Washington, USA - FEB 18, 2012
Three dollar bomber and I need to ingest some hops. Dark toasty coffee aroma, piney hops. Jet black, creamy pale tan head. Full roast, minimal chocolate, nice piney hop finish, well balanced. Works on paper, works in the glass, works for my budget. This beer along with Pyramid’s Imperial Hef and their Outburst IPA shows that they are very capable of producing great beer on a large, economical scale.

Pyramid Brewing Company--Seattle, WA--Discord Dark IPA--Ignition Series. 6.80% ABV. 65 IBU’s. Tan lacy head. Opaque dark black bronze edged color. Rich floral hop front with mild roasted hint. Crisp tangy thin textured dry burnt malt hop infused body. Dry hop spice tangy end. Good taste , but maybe overpowering as a Pint serving. Had this on draft at Pyramid Brewery by Safeco field. Top notch black IPA. Hoppy malty and chocolate notes. Love it BillKismet (4041) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 28, 2010
Translucent black with roast barley red underpinning. Light cream chocolate head that thickens around the edges. Perfect pitch, clean floral hop nose with a Chinook presence amidst a subdued roastiness. Lovely floral hop taste with some carafa at the periphery though this brew is predominately about the hopped. Excellent balance with just enough roast complexity to tempt you back to revisit. rmussman (1701) - California, USA - FEB 13, 2012
Sampled in Boulder. A quite nice dark IPA. I liked how they went a bit heavier on the malts than other. Quality. pottygok (548) - Ohio, USA - MAY 22, 2012
Aroma: Chocolate and coffee malts, hints of earthy yeast with floral hops at the edges.
Appearance: Dark black with minimal head.
Taste: Light sweetness with light sourness at the edges of the finish.
Palate: Medium body, thin texture, soft carbonation, long finish.
Overall: Not unpleasant, and certainly well designed and balanced, but it’s also not a standout either. Still, it’s very solid.
