Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Pretty well made double IPA, fairly balanced, plenty of bitterness, bit of crystal, toast, balanced fruit and pine, a bit chalky though.

A clear ruby body with minimal head. This is a sweet caramel double ipa with a dry grassy and piney hop note. Medium bodied with a slight soap aftertaste. Remnants of the high abv well after the sip. Good but unspectacular.

I typically complain about IPA, but an Imperial IPA is a bit of an exception. This one packs a punch. Like John Cougar said, "It hurts so good".

JPDurden24 (1675) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Pours a dark orangish amber..Piney and grapefruit with a little sweetness in aroma. The flavor is caramel malts, citrus, tartness, and a little bitterness in the finish. Overall, a decent imperial IPA.

12 oz bottle thanks to Jimmy. Pours dark amber with a small white head. Nice citrus nose but a bit mild. Flavors of citrus and bitter hops. Some decent malt profile for balance. Bitterness on the end. Alcohol is present but not over the top. Decent IIPA.

Great typical NW citrus bomb. Nice malt background. I do like my double ipa’s to be super bitter, which this is lacking. However, the dry hop gives it a nice aroma. Good ipa (not iipa).

Sweet citrus aromas. Also sweet citrus flavors. Overall a very good imperial IPA.

TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 9, 2012
Bottle. Orange amber with a small white head. Nose is floral and resinous, citrus. Not bursting with complexity, but simple, fresh, and relatively (and surprisingly clean). Flavor is more grapefruit, a bit hefty and flabby, sharp bitterness. A step in the right direction for Pyramid.

hbmason (1086) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAY 5, 2012
22 ounce bomber pour, medium thick head, cloudy orange color. Piney hops, and orange zest. Nice bitterness.

arminjewell (9661) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 5, 2012
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark red slightly hazy with thin white head, aroma brought big chewy Simcoe, some pine, grapefruit and sweet orange notes, touch of slight caramel and some hints of an earthy spice as well. Taste is sweet and slightly chewy, some big citrus up front with orange and grapefruit, going into biscuit, caramel, some toasted bread and hints of earth, finishing fairly bitter. Pretty decent.
