Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

bottle. Poured hazy deep amber with a thinner off-white head. Citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a bit oily with a tart-dry finish. Sweet caramel malt flavour, notes of orange peel, piney hops with some pepper. Not overly dry as expected from the deScription but nice, alcohol well hidden.

Another citrusy, grapefruit, bitter hoppy IPA. Not so much "Imperial" in it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The one thing about this beer is that it doesn't taste like the ABV is what is. Otherwise it's a nice refreshing beer for the price. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a bomber. Aroma is not overwhelming, some malt. Taste is a dry hop with residuals on the palate. A decent beer at a cheaper price point.

GoufCustom (2120) - HONG KONG - OCT 18, 2015

355 ml bottle bought at The Q-Club in SoHo, Central.

Looks: Clear amber red colour; less than one-quarter finger head and residual soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Fair sticky lacing with very slight carbonation.

Aroma: Quite fragrant and slightly oozy Ale malt, with cat piss, very light pineapple, harsh alcohol, light floral, molasses, light pine, resin, light earth, yeast, lemon and soaked grass.

Taste: Mid to strong sweet Ale malt, with grapefruit, strong lemon, strong molasses, alcohol, strong pine, very strong resins, biscuits, very strong bitter hops and strong grass.

Body: Close to full body. Dry, very oozy and thick palate.

Mouth Feel: Solid strong roasty Ale maltyness in oily background. Sweetness is very strong, cloying actually. Grapefruit is rather low-fi but lemon is strong. Resin ooze and pine dominate. Booze is apparant but not as rubbing as the aroma suggests. Hmmm…

Hoppiness: Very strong Simcoe and Chinook, as in strong cat piss, light pineapple, light floral, pine, strong resin and earth in nose; Grapefruit, strong lemon, pine, very strong ooze and grass in taste. The 80-IBU is in-your-face but doesn’t mix well with the strong malt sweetness. Lasting strong astringent strong sweet and bitter finish.

After Taste: Dry, bitter and strong sweet to mouth.

Comments: The smelly Simcoe cat piss and bad booze aroma got this one off with a bad start, the hops fruityness are quite low-fi and unimpressive, and the bitterness is standoff-ish when the strong malt sugar comes knocking. Its relatively moderate ooziness is the only positive. Unbalanced. Avoid!

Bottle, at a wedding. Ok aroma. Sweet. Caramel, orange stale bread. Clean reddish orange color , ok head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body smooth mouthfeel, bitter sweet finish. It’s ok, flavor better than aroma. Kind of weak overall.

Bottle. Amber pour, with an off white head. Caramel malt, stale bread, very bitter, pine, notes of sawdust, and pretty sweet.

From QC. Drank with Matt after Reza's boat. Dark amber/reddish brown. Medium off-white fizzy creamy head. Lathery watery legs. Smells of apricot, some banana peach apple, musty woody hop, light herbal grassiness. Taste is resinous, moderate to heavy bitterness, slight apple-y malt but overall a bit thin. Body is medium, bitter, lightly grass, medium carbonation. Decent but not exceptional - nose is quite malty and taste is mostly resin.

HKdIPA (841) - HONG KONG - SEP 5, 2015
Bottle from QClub at home. Copper amber pour with dense smallish head. Aroma is pine resin hops and quite a bit of bready malt. Taste follows - lots of malty sweetness but more pine resin bitterness. Sweet bitter finish. Not my favorite style of DIPA, but not bad.

Bottle (12oz $1.50): Golden with 1 finger white head. This is a very typeical imperial IPA. Some hop aroma. Taste has sweetness and pine bitterness. Somewhat syrupy. The product description is actually pretty close.
