Ignition Series #2
Outburst Imperial IPA is a high-impact workout for the senses. A crafty combination of four different hops, and a dose of dry hopping, powers Outburst to 80 IBU strong. Its bold profile offers an aroma reminiscent of the Northwest hop fields at harvest time, along with spicy overtones of fresh citrus. Seeking a harmonious balance to the hop overload, we’ve blended four different specialty malts to create a distinctive deep amber hue and sweet caramel and roasty flavors.

Tap at the Seattle Taproom (Sea-Tac Airport) - 09/11/12. Clear amber with a thin off white head that quickly clears to the edge. Nose is sweet caramel malts, orange, hops, touch of stale socks. Tastes way too sweet, orange zest, jam, caramel, apple tones. Medium bodied with lightly spritzy carbonation, sweet finish. Not a well balanced beer, way too sweet - just about deserves a quick ’MEH’ !

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper with a small off-white head. Aroma of piney hops, candied sugar and caramel malts. Flavour of dry piney hops and just enough malt to back - not the greatest mesh of flavours, but still decently balanced. Good.

Amber, slight haze, medium head. Moderately earthy, sweet, really chewy. Touch of piña, alcohol. Meh.

Pours amber in color with a dense white head. Sort of surprising from Pyramid--a really nice, fresh, citrusy hop aroma. Heavy on the grapefruit and just as much pine and floral hop character. Mildly sweet with some toffee and pineapple notes. The flavor is a bit more perfumey than I prefer, but still good citrus and pine flavors and a solid bitterness. Just a little bit of malt sweetness and a nice fruity hop profile.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small off white head. The aroma is pine hops and grapefruit. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet hop flavor and light bitter finish. Easy to drink a very good IIPA from Pyramid.

Botttle from the Natomas BevMo. Pours copper with a creamy beige head. Aromas of citrus rind over mildly roasted malt. Med + body. Flavor is lots of citrus rind - burns like zest, over some pretty roasty malt. There’s a lot of flavor here. It even seems there’s a little florality now and then. Pretty good stuff, tho perhaps with a bit too much sugar. Eh. Chacun à son goût

Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of crackers, orange zest, mint, light grapefruit and light pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of crackers, grapefruit, orange zest, pine and light mint with a smooth dry bitter lingering grapefruit finish.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with an averae frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy complex hop aroma with a small malt tone. Medium to full body with a slick deep texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet and small alcohol burn finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex beer.

12 ounce bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA, opened 4/1/11. Pours a clear copper color with a thin offwhite head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of bitter floral, resiny and citrus hops. A bit of cattiness as well. The taste is bitter citrus hops, apricot finish. Some faint toffeeish malts. Medium bodied.

3.6
Dogbrick (14309) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 14, 2013
This brew is a slightly hazy amber-orange color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma with some citrus and malt behind it. Medium-bodied with flavors of citrusy hops and grainy malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Decent overall.
