This is a great pale ale. A nice floral hop aroma mingles with the caramel malts.
IMHO Pyramid turns out consistently great beers, and this is one of their finest. A great ’gateway’ beer to get your friends off of the Budmilloors crap.
Very good balance, yet it lets every aspect of the beer shine. climber10 (3) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 12, 2003 does not count
Great ale, strong and amber. Very well hopped but no bite.
Just what I like in a beer. Perfect with pizza mikey (503) - farmington, Utah, USA - AUG 29, 2007
Poured a nice amber/ruby color with an off white head that starts big then resides to average. The nose was bready, malty and piney with a hint of orange zest. The taste was sweet caramel, roasted malt, rye and cherry with citrusy hop esters at the finish. Very good. Tasty as hell. PhillyBeer2112 (2850) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2002
Update: Attractive red-copper color with thick foamy head. Buttery and citric aroma. Smooth, some caramel and nut flavors. Tingly hoppiness and surprisingly well balanced. Really an american amber? dingo (37) - USA - SEP 28, 2003
A dark caramel in color, fast fading foam, and full mouth taste. I really like this beer. Not a Pyramid fan in the fast, I'm finding that they put out a consistent and quality product. Others here have commented on a foul smell, but find it appealing. I'll buy again...not bad at all.

I really liked this beer -- very malty. It almost completely lacked any hoppy bitterness though. If you don’t like bitter, you’ll love this beer. bjbrown24 (61) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 20, 2003
Really a good beer. It is somewhat dark brown and the taste stays with you. One of my favorite beers.
