What a great beer this is! Talk about a mouthful! You almost have to chew this stuff! Very malty with moderate hops. Maintains an intense dark roasted, semi-burnt malt flavor. Extremely rich and very smooth texture. Alcohol level is evident just at the right amount. Late palate is somewhat of a biscuity taste, followed by a very long bittersweet finish. This would never sell here in FL. It has too much flavor. P-tor44 (886) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - DEC 23, 2000
the dark amber reddish color was awsome, it was worth the buy just to look at it, quality opiate (199) - Sandy, Utah, USA - DEC 13, 2000
I really liked this beer. I didn't realize it was intended to be a barley wine as the previous review states. I drank it as a holiday ale, and really enjoyed it. Very rich, dark, balanced, and just all around good stuff. Oakes (19010) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 17, 2000
Underrated amongst NW barley wines. Probably too subtle for all those hopheads. zbrew19 (31) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2000
Last year's offering was not as good as previous, but a nice winter ale.....
