This is a pretty good beer. It pours dark with a light aroma of malt and a little bitterness. The flavor is malty, caramel-like and a little dry. It’s not spectacular, but it’s decent.

The pour is rich deep brown, with a medium white head, which dissipates quickly. the nose is of slightly leathery, with hints of tobacco leaf, dark fruit, and sugars. The flavor is warming graced by touches of cinnamon, caramel and the slightest finish of hops. Decent, and I would drink again, however better seasonals are on the market.

12oz bottle. Dark reddish-brown with a beige head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, piney refreshing hops. The flavor is malty and sweet with a slightly harsh bitterness and piney, minty hops. Full, creamy mouthfeel. I’m not really that satisfied with this as a winter warmer because the hops have a minty, cooling quality that seem to work against said warming properties. Couple this to a slightly unclean bitterness in the finish, and I’m not too big of a fan, though its still a decent beer.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2008 Pours a deep amber, almost a dark brown. decent head. A good blend of flavors, I wouldn’t buy again but would definitely take if some handed me one.

Bottle @ home. Pours in mahogany with a foamy two fingered head that quickly dissipates and leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet fruit and some spice. Flavor is sweet almost cloyingly so. There is some nuttiness and spice in the background. The finish is mildly bitter (hops). Mouthfeel is medium. Average winter warmer.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2009 The aroma has deep toasted malt, piny hops and caramel. The appearance is mahogany with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter finish. The palate is thin. Overall a decent but not great beer.

A good winter ale. Alcohol aftertaste is soul warming. Tastes a little like caramel coffee.

Not much special about this one. Color is ok, flavor is ok...just kind of ok. Did not taste fruit, spice...not much here.

Dark brown, almost opaque, with a small head that disappeared quickly and left no lacing. Strong malt and sweet coffee aroma. Roasted malts up front on the palate, with some dark fruits, ending with a slight bitterness. Alcohol is apparent, but not too strong. Highly carbonated, full bodied, and a dry aftertaste. Decent enough, but there are many and much better beers that come out during the holidays.
