UPDATED: JAN 1, 2008 Clear rye. Quick light tan head. Full of malt goodness in both departments and fruity, slightly spicy undertones from the Goldings. Big malt attack at the end with lingering sugared malts and dark fruits. A malt monster and quite the change of pace. jgioviano (23) - kildeer, Illinois, USA - FEB 20, 2006
there are much better winter seasonals out there. I can’t believe this is in the 77th percentile... hophead75 (2012) - Largo, Florida, USA - DEC 19, 2006
12 oz bottle shared with dirtymike, volgon, and lyndanova. Brown in color with some ruby highlights. Aroma is caramel and some light notes of fruit. Taste is pretty much the same, medicinal, and oxidized malt. KDorgan12 (169) - Memphis, Tennessee, USA - JAN 2, 2007
Bottle. Nice off-white head with a reddish hugh, spicy aroma, and bold amber color. Unfortunately, my bottles may have been skunked. ganache (5853) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 8, 2007
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2014 Bottle. Sweetish hops and ginger/nutmeg nose. Ruby body with a tanned-light brown head. Bitter fruity taste with roast and a little smoke. Unpleasant florality establishes itself in the mid-body. Dry and lightly spiced (nutmeg?). Crisp full body, a bit of alcohol seeping through at the end, but without warmth. A little rough, but the present level of complexity predicts a really boffo brew with some age. Thanks, Jake! [2007.05.08: 2.9]

Update: (Screw-top). Yup, had this one about right. Fresher bottle though. Seemed too spicy to start, but that faded and the thin malt took over along with a case of the blahs. Really not bad, but I’m in no rush to accidentally buy another bottle. [2014.01.13: 2.7]

Thin brown color. Burning malt aroma. A strong rubbing alcohol taste. Burnt smell and flavor. Weak palate and long lasting aftertaste that wasnt very pleasant.
A nice winter warmer. That is about it. Sickboy282 (1114) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 1, 2004
The only good thing about this is the alc. percentage. Otherwise, move along to some other holiday brew piscator34 (2515) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 14, 2004
Deep dark red in colour. Sweet malty aromas... especially chocolate malt. Woody and somewhat astringent flavor. Some mild berry flavor as well. Quick finish. Not very impressive.
