The first thing I noticed was the wonderful hoppy and floral aroma. A deep golden colour and the distinct bitter flavour was just right.

There are more IPAs in the NW than sunny days, so afficianados tend to parse the style to their own tastes. Pyramid's one of the best--big and hoppy. It has a 'catty' quality that some don't like, but to others those hops are manna. Many of the comments here indicate that it's not big or aggressive enough, but I think it's just a well-balanced beer. The hops can't shock because it's too big a beer, yet it doesn't taste huge because of the crisp malting.

Nice golden color with suitable bubbles; not not much head. Nice hoppy aroma. The Cascades really come through, and there is noticeable bitterness in the flavor. Very dry finish. An enjoyable beer.

Re-rate 05/18/02: Pours a clear amber or deep gold, nice white head, decent lace and a fine hop floral nose. Begins malt sweet, top light, finish is dry, acidic, hop bitter and a fine drinkable beer.

Basic IPA with extra NW bite. Decent aroma, good hoppiness/bitterness. Solid beer.

Not much to it. Vague aroma that's slightly sour, and a flavor that tastes more sour than bitter. The hoppiness tastes canned, not very fresh. Little balance and little finish. Flat, sour, dull.

The best beer on tap at the Pyramid Brewery here (besides the kilt lifter). The most lucid aroma, good drinkability and decent crispness. Lacks the massiveness of the best West Coast IPAs.

HoppedHead (106) - seattle, Washington, USA - APR 18, 2002
Nice hoppy IPA, very bitter and unbalanced, but there in lies the beauty of this ale, light copper color, with very little maltiness, but tons of hop flavor, aroma, and bitterness, plus a nice kick, good to drink before M's Games

Too bubbly and too bitter for my taste. Not terrible - but I wouldn't waste my time trying it again.
