Sweet, malty aroma, just a hint of the peat, some caramel/toffee and dark fruitiness. Deep garnet in color, with a subsiding head. Malty, fruity, sugary flavor, some breadiness and caramel and having a mildly earthy, bittersweet finish that is briefly reminiscent of apple butter. I believe the hop presence may have faded somewhat in the months since it's release. Nevertheless, if they were going for something along the lines of McEwan's Scotch, they certainly succeeded. It's practically a clone.

Deep ruddy brown in color. Good malt nose with minor hops noted. Good flavor. Somewhat weaker when compared to other scottish ales. Still a nice find.

kyzr (1593) - Montana, USA - MAR 12, 2003
Nice sweet malty aroma, head was not really a factor, it was gone so fast. Nice malty flavor with very little notice of hops. Smooth drinking spring ale that is easy to drink.

3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 23, 2003
Aroma is of medium strength, pleasent with hints of plums and hops, and quite sharp. This beer poured a dark brown with slight red hue. Taste is spicy and hoppy, with undertones of caramel syrup. Medium body, right amount of carbonation. Finish is mild.

WabashMan (1024) - Noblesville, Indiana, USA - FEB 10, 2003
A nice, deep ruby color and decent head start this one. Aroma doesn't quite measure up to the color, and seems a little weak for a scots ale. The flavor is alright and seems to last a very long time. A decent effort from Pyramid.

Crit (4049) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 11, 2003
Dark reddish brown, beige head.Light roasted malt and grain nose.Sweet malt flavor with light dry hop finsih and an unpleasant alcohol heat. Really didn't care for this one.

MaxPower (961) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 3, 2003
Dark clear brownish-copper color, off white foamy head. Malty caremel aroma, sweet, a little too sweet and thats about it, light body and thin, "full-flavored"...mabye for macro drinkers, weak with not much taste.

Dark Amber color, medium head. Medium bodied scotch ale. Malty and smoky. Blend of 7 different malts makes for a complex flavorful ale. Full flavored. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty and slightly sweet
