The aroma is slight, but sweet with notes of alcohol. The color is an opaque red with a small fast disappearing head. The flavor is weird: sour with powerful notes of alcohol and somewhat lesser notes of coffee. The mouthfeel is sticky. The alcohol is too pronounced. omhper (25108) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 7, 2004
Bottled. Mahogany colour, no head. Aroma of green apples. Sweet and very woody. Syrupy, clean, mouthfeel. Malty but mellow. The woodiness is nice, but it’s extremely one dimensional. There’s nothing under this kilt. Dogbrick (13010) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 25, 2004
Dark ruby brown color with a medium light tan head. Thin and quick lacing. The aroma is smoky malt and caramel. Medium-bodied with a big malt profile, and very little else in the flavor aside from a hint of caramel. The finish is sweet and lasting. Kind of a one-trick pony with the malt but it is smooth and drinkable. Bov (12636) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JUL 23, 2002
dark ruby-brown colour, few head, fruity aroma, very malty, sweet, buttery with a long fruity (apple ?) finish slowrunner77 (12040) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 19, 2014
"pretty impressive body and flavor for not that strong of a beer. probably the best beer Pyramid has made, especially since most of em are some variation of wheat. strong on the peet, which lends to a great nose and body! well done."

Crystal clear, deep mahogany ale with a light brown head. Poor retention. Decent lacing.
The nose is of beef broth, smoke and port with a hint of bacon grease. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Astringent, bone-dry finish.

Aroma is of medium strength, pleasent with hints of plums and hops, and quite sharp. This beer poured a dark brown with slight red hue. Taste is spicy and hoppy, with undertones of caramel syrup. Medium body, right amount of carbonation. Finish is mild. Ernest (7694) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 14, 2004
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2004 Head is initially small, fizzy, light brown, fully diminishing. Body is clear dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (cereal), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of DMS, corn syrup, and solvent. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. One of the worst so-called Scottish ales I've ever had. On tap Pyramid Seattle location Pours out a amber topped with a small white head. Aroma of sweet roast malt. Tast was more of the roast malts along with a little nut. Not to bad. Radek Kliber (7359) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUL 16, 2003
Creamy, medium bodied. Slightly sweet mixed with darker malt. Full flavored, decent brew.
