22 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Unfortunately I’m getting to this one way later than I wanted, but that’s the breaks. Pours a hazy deep brown color with a tiny off-white head that settles into a tiny ring with a few small islands of film. Notes of oak, vanilla, cocoa, cola, mild peppery spice, and brown sugar. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet and spicy but smooth mouthfeel. Past its prime, but not bad.

22oz bottle via trade with alexdad06, pours an oily, translucent deep brown with some creamy off white head. Nose is interesting, raisins, malt, some mild spice, other dried fruits, a lot of barrel character, vanilla, some coconut, some dark bread. Flavor has a blend of licorice and black pepper, vanilla, caramel, fruity peppers, raisins, some candy, some char, a little neutral wood. Quite a bit of chili heat on the end, not overpowering but certainly present. Sweetness actually lends to a smooth finish. Solid, this bottle is a year old and I think it’s probably peaking now.

Draft at Ei8ht Ball/22 oz bottle from notes 3/2014. Pours a dark brown, reddish highlights and a small off white hea. The aroma and flavor have light roasted malt, a nice kick of peppers, sweet malts, light, bourbon, vanilla, wood, the peppers are present, but don’t become offensive or dominate the flavor like other beers

22 ounce bottle. Served in a mug, the beer pours a murky copper/brown color with a half inch light tan head that fizzled away quickly. Not much lacing at all. The brew smells like chili peppers, bourbon, caramel malt, toffee, and vanilla. I think the flavors are pretty much just like the aroma. At first the bourbon tends to overpower the other flavors somewhat, and then as the beer warms up the chilies start to take over. It’s not a strong chili pepper heat, but it’s certainly noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s coating and creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this brew, it’s one that was better more and more the longer I drank it. Nice version of a dopplebock!

From a 22oz bottle bought on 7/16/14. Absolute lack of apparent carbonation. Which makes me think i might have a bad bottle. Beer is a dusty nut brown opaque liquid. Nose is sweet molasses goodness with a hint of the pepper presence. Taste is very sweet with the pepper burn during the end. Body is completely flat. Probably not as intended. This beer is quite tasty. Too bad I can’t make a fair assessment on the bottle i have.

Bottle. Chocolate toffee and chili pepper aroma. Medium brown with just a few bubbles for a head. Sweet chocolate caramel malt and habanero pepper flavor. Light burn in the finish - nicely balanced. Nice.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good; a fairly transparent dark copperish brown with razor-thin eggshell lacing. Smells solid; a good balance of sweet malt, oak, and mild peppers. Tastes like it smells with notes of vanilla too. Nice on the palate. You get a bit of heat on the back end too, but not too much. Well-balanced and tasty!
