Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Hazy brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dark sugar and balsamico. Flavor is medium sweet and light sour. Sweet and light sour finish. 121114

Couleur sombre, reflets rouges, mousse beige légère. Nez typique, fruits rouges, vinaigre, notes dépôts de vin. Gout vieux fruits rouges aigres, notes taniques, fin légère sucrée.

The original Queue de Charrue, since 1986, so the first of a series of beers commissioned by Vanuxeem. Bronze brown beer with thin head and a somewhat weird aroma combining caramelly sweetness with a kind of fruity tartness, metallic hints and something chemical; taste has cloying, candi-like sweetness along with sourness and nutty maltiness, rather thin. Disappointing, certainly for an oud bruin.

Een bruin bier moet normaal een goede, stevige smaak hebben, dat heeft deze niet.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma is ripe fruits. Taste is a nice balance of sweet and sour.

Decent Vlaams Oud Bruin beer. Sourrish, with a taste of oaky malt. Always a nice style.

Bottle (330 ml). Amber/brown with a small beige head and light lacing. Aroma is awful as the beer seems to be clearly infected.... there’s heavy ketchup notes, caramel and light wood notes along medicinal and metallic notes. Taste isn’t better and also dominated by ketchup and caramel, but the medicinal presence is just awful. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Very weak brew. I’m not sure this one would be any good even without the infection. I don’t plan to revisit.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2016 Clear dark brown colour. Aroma is quite musty with some wood, vinegar and red fruits. Flavour has some ginger cake. Also sweet and sour red fruits.

33cl bottle - nose is berry and sour. Sweet. Malty for the style. Citric sweat on the nose. Strike 23,822 for the style.

freretoc (1935) - Besançon, FRANCE - APR 2, 2014
Bu en bouteille de 33cl, une couleur et un goût cuivré peu de mousse, très étonnant sur l’attaque je peux pas dire si j’aime ou pas...
