Emil (6064) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 6, 2005
Red brown colour with a off-white head. Light sour light fruity aroma and taste. Medium body and a sweet finish.

lachesis (757) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - MAR 3, 2005
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2005 Red-brown color with small light beige head. Touch of candy sugar in the nose and hints of dry fruits and fresh red fruits. Fine spicyness and faint touch of hops. Taste is round light sweet and has a sourish accents of pickeled raspberry, cakes and chutny.

dark ruby-brown colour, the foam disappears immediately, vinous nose, aroma of vinegar, apple and wood, tart, sour and sweet with a medium body, the finish is slightly dry and fruity with more notes of vinegar - good but too much on the sweet side to be exceptional

Fizzy light brown head on a dark clear amber body. Vinous malt and tart fruit aroma with cheese and vinegar notes - classic Verhaeghe! Biding flavor. Tart fruit, vinegar, malt. Rather thin bodied though flavorfull. Nice, but not the best from Verhaeghe. Definately interesting and different.

Tart acidic nose, some malts, but mainly a sour fruitiness with lactic-vinegary quality. Dark red-brown hazy with no head. Medium body with high carbonation. Very tart start, fruity but also with a lot of vinegar, soy sauce. Hard to taste much beyond that. Finish is the same, and the after is reminiscent of a raspberry vinegarette. I do enjoy a good Flemish sour ale, but I think this one went South on me.

Beautiful color, dark mahogany with red sparkles; small creamy head. The aroma is fruity, moderately sour, creamy, and there is some vinous wood too. Good mouthfeel quite round, as it still has some pleasant sweetness; malt flavor corrected by the typical Verhaeghe winey sour and fruity touch. The bitterness is quite low, and the final medium short. Complex and beautifully aged.

Clean dark amber color; creamy head. Original aroma: malt, sourness, cherries, toffee, caramel, cookies… Smooth, sweet and lightly sour, very similar to Duchesse de Bourgogne (therefore good!). Dangerously drinkable!

Similar to it's siblings Vichtenaar and Duchesse de Bourgogne, sweetish like Duchesse, not as tart as Vichtenaar. Great sweet-sour flavors.

Very light nose - pleasant, red amber color, huge fluffy head. Quick light malt taste, slight toffee tastes, chewy. Tight dry hoppy bitterness far back in the mouth. Thin and not complex. Clean palate. Pretty good - liked the finish.

Academie de la Biere, Paris: On TAP: Fruity nose. Red amber color, long lasting little head, leaving laces. Malty, candis sugar and fruity taste. Fullmouth medium bitter but short finish. Was a wonderful location and the beers were completed by great jazz music and moules de Geuze.
