Single bottle purchased in Vernon, BC on 03/10/2011. Colour: Pure darkness...but with low head. Nose: Coffee clouded in smoke ....and thick too. Some hard-boiled egg & habanero. Taste: Light sweet, light sour, medium bitter. 85% cocoa, charcoal, dark roast coffee. Limited characteristics but some smoke that seems geniune - if not misplaced. Jet black body and dark brown head. Simple aroma of roasted barley. Taste is a sour stout, not sweet at all and with a bitter finish. Not my kind of stout; I prefer the sweeter and more complex ones. Some might find this highly drinkable, I found it just barely. fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 31, 2010
Draught at Amberjack Tap House, Surrey, BComhper (25949) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 27, 2010
The color is almost black; the head is brownish. Light aroma, burnt paper and roasted malt. Very dry mouthfeel, with harsh roasted malt flavor, weak body. Correct bitterness, all from the black malt. Monodimensional, and not the dimension I prefer.
Bottled, from Kimberley, BC. Black, small head. Smokey cocoa aroma. Dry and clean with fairy light body. Interesting flavours of smoke and coffee, but a bit sharp in the mouth. mcberko (19809) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 28, 2010
Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of oat and roasted malt. Flavour of oatmeal, roasted malt and coffee. Decent stout.

My bottle [650ml] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, jerc, mabel & GregClow -- c/o Mirek. Pours a very dark brown with a small diminishing frothy beige head. Nice aroma of roasted malt, coffee, a hint of smoke and leafy hops. Slightly watery flavour of roasted malt, coffee, some dry chocolate and a light, dry, bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good, I liked it. garthicus (2962) - Dublin, IRELAND - JAN 13, 2010
Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Pitch black, small creamy tan head. Aroma: Slight chocolate with coffee, malt, a little creamy too. Flavour: Quite a light body with a mild dash of coffee, a good amount of malt, medium bitterness, a long dry finish. Very nice. HogTownHarry (7085) - Toronto (Harbourfront), CANADA - JAN 13, 2010
Bottle ( 650ml ). Shared by blankboy with me, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel. Opaque red-brown, very small frothy tan diminishing head. Aroma of dry cocoa, mild dry leafy bitterness, cola syrup and hints of coffee and treacle. Tastes similar, but some lactose and grassiness - not bad - slick, decently carbonated, a nice dry herbal linger after cocoa/coffee up-front. Pretty solid. Pours out a near black brew with a less than average sized foamy light brown cap that vanishes pretty quick and minor slippery, silty lacing. The aroma has too much coffee in it but other than that.... Sweet with bitter dark chocolate, underlying citrus, almonds. Pretty good taste and very drinkable. A bit of herbal or pine (really, I can’t make my mind up) keeps afloat with the dark roasted malts, sweet brown sugar, ample chocolate, some candy and maybe apricot. I’m tired, dammit. Not thick at all for body, maybe a bit too much carbonation... then again it is 4.6%. Mid taste bitterness appears and doesn’t leave and works. Finishes fairly long with coffee, chocolate and side-of-the-tongue bitterness. This is a decent stout albeit a bit gassy. zeek (194) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 27, 2009
Pours a thin head which rises slightly after pouring, but is gone within a minute. Aroma is inviting but too weak for a stout.
Color is a nice black, when held up to the light a tinge of red can be seen at the edges. The burnt coffee taste one expects from a stout is there, finishes nicely with slightly bitter aftertaste. Not too thick, but certainly robust.
A fine stout, will buy again.
