Poured very dark brown with a tan head that dissipated quick. Aroma is very chocolaty and toasty. Coffee, chocolate, and some sourness come through in the flavor. Has a dry, bitter finish. A little thin and watery for an oatmeal stout. Not bad, but not great. Sammy (12740) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 26, 2009
Dark brown with light brown bubbly head. Lacey. Below average mouthfeel. This is well balanced, the roastiness is there. But somehow its not that interesting, so-so in taste. MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 13, 2009
A nice offering from R&B. It poured thick and dark like an oatmeal stout should, with the prerequisite creamy tan head and a pleasing aroma of roasted/toasted malts paired with some burnt coffee. Tasted just like that, too. Mouthfeel was right smooth, and it finished well. Ughsmash (7510) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 30, 2008
Bomber, thanks to Mark! Poured medium-deep brown with a lovely initial cap of tan head.. might’ve been a "5" if it didn’t settle down quite quickly. The aroma picked up moderately-roasty chocolate, molasses, and caramel undertones.. almost smelled syrupy, but that’s OK.. dark and enticing on the back of the nose. The flavor was along the same lines.. sweeter chocolates and treacle at the core with a smooth oaty texture.. somewhat sour at the edges from coffee and tannins.. sweeter finish caught some of that latter character, which detracted from the goodness a little. Medium-bodied and it wanted to be smooth on the palate, but the sharper edges kept getting in the way. OK overall. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 18, 2008
The aroma is light, muted, cocoa, grassy hops, tangy fruits. The body is dark brown and holds a thin tan head. The flavor is mostly coffee, smoke, cocoa and a light fruit and chocolate sweetness. Soft mouth feel and carbonation.

Pours black with a cream head that has some retention and lacing. Rich aroma has notes of caramel and light brown sugar. Flavor is very dry and herbal with a noticeable hop back and decided roastiness, almost burnt but not unpleasant. Not terribly complex, though. Palate has decent carbonation but limited creaminess. Overall a decent effort but could certainly be richer to suit the style. DougShoemaker (3146) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 6, 2008
Aroma is dark chocolate, strong coffee and smoke, dark brown, tiny tan head. Softer taste of chocolate than the nose, pleasing malt also. Light to medium bodied, nicely bitter. Very good. Thanks tiggmtl via mds. BBB63 (6567) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - MAR 24, 2008

Opaque with a small head and good lace. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, smoke, oatmeal, caramel, walnut, and musty yeast esters. The taste is ripe dark fruit and toasty oats with a note of chocolate. A bit medicinal and salty. The mouth feel is thin and fizzy, metallic finish. Blah, okay I guess. Nothing memorable at all.
Bottle… March 08 Tampa Bay Tasting… Murky black ale with a small, creamy, beige head. The grainy nose imparts notes of blue corn, chocolate, tobacco and a puff of smoke. Light to medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Well-balanced and inoffensive, but bland, thin and watery. Burnt, tangy finish. Quake1028 (638) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAR 16, 2008
Courtesy of Degarth. Thank you, sir.
Notes were pretty shitty at this point in the night, so I will just say that this one was a bit underwhelming. Wasn’t a good tasting night as far as Sweet Stouts go, and that is taking into account that they are one of my very favorite styles.
