Sweet smokey aroma. Flavour is cherry sweetness with smoked peat and light bacon. Slight sourness from the oak. Very tasty.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at a recent bottle share... Poured near black with a medium forming, light brown head. Rather than bacon, it came of mostly smoky. Smooth mouthfeel probably due to the oatmeal added. Bitter-sweet molasses and malted grains. Almost peat-like with roasted coffee too.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
So, I didnít read the all the label when I bought this beer, and didnít see the Bacon reference......and I hate smoke flavoured/aroma beers!!! Anyway, I wasnít wasting my money so decided to try it out. Pours a darkish black, but with ruby highlights. Off white head quickly dies to a lacing. Strong aromas of peat, iodine, smoke and possibly smoky bacon, and more smoky things. I just canít get past the aroma; itís nasty to me, yet I enjoy peaty, smoky whisky; go figure! Taste follows the same as the aroma, but does mix in a little coffee grinds bitterness and a hint of sweetness from the malt. A little too much carbonation makes the mouthfeel a bit rough, but also seemed a little thin for an oatmeal stout; not quite watery but not full either. Finish is bitter, smoky. As a smoked beer, it probably ticked all the boxes, but I still canít take to smoked beers, and Iíve rated it for my own personal view, and not to style.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Liberty Wine on Commercial Dr, Vancouver
Dark brown color, almost black. Very nice aroma of roasted malt, smoke, campfire, wood. The mouthfeel is lean and dry; roasted malt flavor, a bit ashy, with reasonable smoke; no connections to bacon; ordinary bitterness.
It goes from a wonderful aroma to a common flavor; it would be better with more body, less dry, less ashy.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours black with a red tint a medium size off white head which dissipates quickly. Very strong smoky aroma of burn bacon with a hint of coffee. Flavour is coffee roasted malts with a nice smoky bacon and a light tangy finish. It has thick body and medium bitterness on the palate.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
650ml bottle, poured into a giant glass mug. Pours a beautiful black with thin brown/beige head. Great big snoutfull of smoked ham aroma and taste of the same. Strong peaty smokiness, medium coffee and roasted malt, faint toast/oatmeal flavours. Full-bodied; thick and sticky; medium carbonation; syrupy finish with some late side-of-the-mouth bitterness. If not a perfect beer, a perfect complement to my dinner of perogies and onions fried in bacon fat.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours darkest brown, virtual black with decent light brown head. Aroma is smoky malt, medicinal and peaty. Taste is burnt malt, some slight bacon characteristics, iodine and dirt. Mouthfeel is rather thin and lacking in viscosity. Finish is more burnt malt, slightly salty and brackish. Really not feeling this one at all. Feels unrefined and coarse. Disappointing.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Peat malt is overpowering in the nose, not that itís unpleasant, just a bit one dimensional. Opaque darkest brown/black body is topped by a generous, fine-bubbled tan/brown head that recedes slowly to cover and laces nicely. Flavour definitely follows the aroma and there is a nice biscuity/roasty component but all that peat malt has wreaked havoc on the mouthfeel. Itís rather syrupy and the carbonation just canít keep up. Not really my cup of bacon. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in June 2012.
