Colour: dark brown
Smell: bread, red wine, vanila, coffee, alcohol, pumpernickel
Taste: coffee, soft malts, raw coffee beans, and heavly roasted malts, end is yeasty and ashy, quite nice !
0.5l bottle courtesy of Inbreak and shared with The Great Tasting Crew. Expiration date was 2 years ago and it has been perfectly stored since then. This one is black as The Black Adder and it has a small bubbly sidesticking chocolate head. Lovely sweet roasted aroma with lost of chocolate and leather, vanilla and some coffee. It has a soft carbonation level and a silky oily mouthfeel. Deep roasted chocolaty and sweet flavors in this one. It’s almost ashy and sticky with some nice oxidized tones in the background. Ends with a gigantic chocolate finish and continues with this in a everlasting aftertaste. Really interesting flavors. Thanks for sharing Kai Sindre! 30.01.2011 Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 1, 2012
Bottle @ Monk’s Porter House. Black pour, very thin tan head. Aroma of licorice, burnt malts, red fruits and chocolate. Flavor is bitter, roasted and spicy. Nicely burnt and well balanced. Great brew. 77ships (9827) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 26, 2012
37.5 ml bottle @ home, shared with Belgbeergeek – thx to him: (A) black with pretty much no head (whatever head there is very briefly is bordeaux coloured) – (S) slight burned malts, dark sugar, coffee (ice cold coffee), dark fruits – (T) cold coffee (touch dominating), dark malts, slightly bitter upfront, slight burned malts, dark fruits & brown sugar going into a touch vinous aftertaste, vinous wild berries which don’t really feels meant – (B) touch oily, cold coffee, soft carb. – ok in a genre that is heavily loaded including many excellent examples reebtogi (6267) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 15, 2012
500ml bottle pours black in color with a finger of dark tan head that left some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts and dark chocolates with hints of coffee and citrus hops. Taste is much like the aroma with a nice balance between the sweet and bitter. Medium to full body with light carbonation. This is quite a complex stout and was a very enjoyable tasting experience.

Black with a porous brown head.
Aroma: chocolate liqueur, sweet licorice, slightly vinous, maybe honey, citrusy hops.
Taste: cocoa, licorice, some soy sauce, cold coffee, burnt rubber, citrus, roasted. Finish has cocoa and grapefruit bitterness.
Quite complex and very nice. ClubGonzo (5670) - Bergen, NORWAY - FEB 7, 2012
Bottle, courtesy of Inbreak and shared with Bergen Beer Geek Tasting Crew. This used to be widely available in Norway through our government strong alcoholic beverage outlet chain "Vinmonopolet", but slipped away from me just as I was gettin’ warm on Ratebeer, going through their stock and rating everything I could get my hands on. So for me, this is a "missing link" of sorts. At least it feels that way. :-P Ooops, sorry: on with the rating - pitch black body, big caramel head. Nice. Aroma is licorice, coffee, black berries and hints of wood and leather. Taste is coffee tones, licorice and hints of dark malts, black berries and leather. Due to cellaring (can’t remember the vintage, but it’s more than 2 years old) it’s well integrated and slightly oxidized, but carries its age well. Mellow, creamy and very good. zvikar (6172) - Ramat Gan, ISRAEL - FEB 3, 2012
At the warm tasting, thanks DSG, pours opaque black with a small head, aroma of nuts, whiskey, brandy, almonds, chocolate liquor, flavor of coffee, nuts, nice bitterness, medium to full bodied, sticky, very nice. kerenmk (4751) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JAN 23, 2012
Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks DSG. Pours black opaque. Nose: doppelbock-like: alcohol, some chocolate and raisins. Mouth: roast, grain, alcohol. Flat, full body, oily texture with an alcoholic finish. Alright. DSG (14784) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - JAN 20, 2012
Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Jacob for this bottle! Black-colored with no head. Alcoholic chocolate aroma with some dark fruit liqueur-like notes. Sweet chocolaty flavor with light fruity notes and a drier roasty finish with some coffee. Flat, full-bodied and oily. Pretty nice.
