2011-01-29 - shared by jerc & mabel with me and blankboy. 375ml corked bottle. Near-opaque black (red at the edges) with a diminishing creamy light brown head. Aroma of alcohol, herbal bitterness with some nougat sweetness, heavy cloying deep roast malt but oddly a muted aroma for all that. Taste is nice - a bit boozy, with all the aroma character plus some fresh herbal bitterness, but it seems to gel better in the taste. Thick and creamy a bit boozy/astringent/dry, light carbonation, with a long bitter nutshell finish. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2012

375 ml bottle courtesy of a trade with Rasmus40. Pours black with virtually no head and leaves no lace. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malt and some alcohol vapors. The flavor is quite different than the aroma and is more centered on the roasted malt with licorice (particularly as the beer warms), orange, chocolate, and a bit of alcohol. Finish is a bit ashy and dry. The mouthfeel is just a bit slick I think mostly due to the lack of carbonation. Medium-full bodied. _angst_ (4802) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 3, 2011
375 ml bottle @ The Rover on December 3. Sampled courtesy of Stefan K. Pours oily black with no head. Smells is big with lots of milk chocolate, liquorice, roasted malts and alcohol. Taste is roasted malts, alcohol, vanilla and sweet liquorice. Finish is dry with bitter chocolate. There’s no CO2 so bottle might be a bit bad.

22-OCT-2011, bottle @home, from "Barleywine".
Pours very dark, clear brown with no head at all.
Nose is coffee, well espresso, and chocolate. Almost barrel aged notes.
Taste is sweet coffee, and chocolate. Some malty bitterness but low on bitter hops. Long sweet roasted ending with some hops on flat oily body.
Totally flat. Disappointing. Must be a flaw.
Too old? Bottle says 01/08/15. No help there.
Fine brew except for the lack in carbonation. gyllenbock (9097) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 13, 2011
Bottle at SBWF, October 6, 2011.

(37.5 cl bottle; BBD: August 26th 2011) Pours deep black, softly carbonated with medium, coffee head and some lace even if the head dissipitates relatively quickly. Aroma is chocolate and toasted malt with maybe a hint of grassy hops. Oily texture, medium-bodied with a dry, bitter finish. Taste is dark, moderately bitter with notes of toasted malt. Girlfriend says: "It’s good. It’s like very bitter chocolate." POLK (2219) - Hørning, DENMARK - AUG 8, 2011
Black color with a fine brown head. Roasted aroma.
Very dark and roasted taste.

Pours almost black, no head. Aroma is toffee, chocolate and a little coffee. Taste is balanced between roasted maltiness, alcohol and bitterness. Aftertaste is long and quite bitter, distinct notes of dark chocolate.
