English: Imperial Stout is a deep black beer with a chocolatecoloured huge head. Has a powerful aroma and flavour of as well the roasted malts and the huge amounts of hops. While brewing the american hops Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo and Cascade are used. The beer is dryhopped with loads of Cascade.

375ml green corked bottle. Deep dark brown to black pour. Head is small and light brown, reduces to a thin layer on the surface. Very light spotty lace left on the glass. U.S. aroma hops, but more of an alcohol presence in the nose and some light sweetness. Flavour is big and roasty, big hop presence. Sharp PNW hop profile, some light alcohol notes. Finishes with big roasty malts, bitter and dry. Body is full, slick, oily. Carbonation is subtle. Aftertaste is roasty and acidic with warming alcohol in the background. Solid Impy with a very nice smoothness for a big stout.

Bottle, mht. 31-08-2008. Black with a beige head. Aroma of lime, chocolate, coffee and licorice - surprised about the lime. Porter/citrus water flashbacks. I like that, as this was how I grew up to be a beer drinker tasting it in my childhood. Flavour is the exact same thing with sweetness and a roasted bitter finish. Aging did nothing bad to this imo.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown body with a tiny offwhite head. Aroma is vinous, dark fruit, notes of sweet strawberries, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt, bitter coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, vinous. The alcohol thickles the tongue. Soft palate. Great.

375 ml bottle. Courtesy of Papsoe. An off one, i presume. Totally flat, no head, strong liquor aromas and flavours. Cognac like. I hope to taste a good condition one.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of licorice, dark fruit, chocolate, ash, raw sugar, port wine and red berries. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of port wine, licorice, chocolate and light booze. Medium to full bodied with minimal carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle 37,5cl from Henrik thanks, 2005 batch ! A dark beer without head and carbonation. Nose is on dark malt, with prune and caramel touch. Aroma is intense on dark malt, caramel and licorice, notes of prune and light oxidation, nice complexity, oily texture, very pleasant, dark chocolate notes, relatively easy to drink, very long licorice and toffee finish, excellent beer. Compared to the recipe, the US hops are less powerful here, malty dimension take the head and the 8 year vintage let the body more fruity ans less aggressive I think, very interesting.
