COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Black as coal in the glass. Taste is malty almost chocolate lacks a bit in body. Aroma is subtle hint of caramel. Not bad for a black style beer.

3.4
Grumbo (2846) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUN 18, 2017
Bottle at Gitta’s. Pours almost black with a slight maroon tint and a medium sized foamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, nut, chocolate and dark fruit. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average to soft carbonation.

MattiasA (862) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 7, 2014
Backlog. On tap at Green Lion Inn. High drinkability, just not packing enough aromas to be anything special.

3.3
oh6gdx (26482) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUN 30, 2013
Bottled (As Vinter ale). More or less black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, some nuts as well as mild caramel. Flavour is roasted malts, mild ashes and some chocolaty and mildly bitter notes.

Gerbeer (3698) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 30, 2012

northropfrye (3514) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - AUG 29, 2012
Faint coffee aroma, a sweet nutiness. Attractive black body with offwhite foamy head, some nice lacing. Taste is rather understated, sweet bready malts, a bit of roast taste, but altogether too faint.

3.4
adnielsen (10605) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 12, 2012
Bottle @ Rene’s house. Thanks Rene! Dark brown appearance with a foamy, brown head and nice lacing. Burnt toffee, roast, brown sugar, grassy aroma. Fairly sweet, dark caramel/burnt sugar, roasty, a bit charred flavor.

2.8
dresden (1581) - Saskatchewan, CANADA - APR 21, 2012
Black with a creamy off white head. Yeasty and dark fruit aroma with a bit of smokiness. Taste is quite sweet with butter and smoke. Not bad, but not feeling it much.

3.5
reebtogi (6235) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 14, 2012
330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of off-white head that retains well and leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts and earthy hops. Taste is roasty malted bitterness with some malty sweetness to balance things out and a mild earthy hop bitterness to round it out. Medium body and modest carbonation. A pretty tasty black lager which was definitely worth sampling.
