Brown in color with a medium body, Sweet Magnolia has a floral hop aroma created by Mt. Hood hops. A sweet, malty flavor is rendered by Crystal and Chocolate malts from the UK. Sweet Magnolia Brown won a gold medal in the 1998 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO. 12.5°. Editor’s note: Some of the beers at Ragtime are mandated by head office, but the brewpub has considerable independence. It is possible that in future some beers may be merged with corporate brews, but until we can determine with the brewmaster which these might be we will leave them all independent.

8/4/15. On tap at the brewery. Brown pour with a small khaki head, mild lacing. Lightly nutty aroma, grainy, doughy, hints of chocolate. Light flavor, mild nuttiness and caramel, hints of chocolate. The guy next to me was telling the bartender how much better this beer is than other stouts he’s had. Well hmmph.

Golden-brown. Toasty-lightly nutty. A little bit thin but good balance overall. A fairly typical brown ale.

Billed as the winter seasonal from Ragtime Tavern in Atlantic Beach, FL. Nice warm reddish brown color. Good bready aroma. Not a lot of bread crust, more a simple dark bread aroma. Too sweet, especially in the finish. Becomes cloying. Finishes clean, though, and not bad.
