Bottle from ericandersnavy. Pours really dark brown with a foamy light tan head. Rich, nutty dark roast malt aroma. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is nutty, smokey, dark malt. Seems to be some hop bitter as well. Not at all sweet. Grabs at the finish - strong flavors. Just excellent. SphinxTX (2878) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - JAN 13, 2010
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with nice tan head. Aroma of malt, a little chocolate, faint toffee and caramel, small hop presence. Flavor is exactly the same. Mouth feel is medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Overall, it’s a nice beer. I wish there was some peaty smokiness to it. Mora2000 (6158) - McKinney, Texas, USA - JAN 11, 2010
Had on tap at the brewery during July 2009. Pours a darker brown with a creamy head. Smells of malt with a little smoke. Taste is sweet malt with some peat and smoke. This is not a very heavy beer and is very drinkable for a scotch ale. This is the only time I ever saw this beer, but I would drink it again if it became a seasonal or year-round offering. kidmartinek (5007) - austin, Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2010

I loved this. I can’t decide whether I like this or the Belhaven better. I had them back to back and I still can’t decide. This beer leaves a fantastic taste in your mouth for literal minutes after each sip. Apparently I’m a Rahr fanboy now.
