Bottled. A hazy dark red beer with a light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, spices, and caramel as well as light notes of bread, leading to a dry spicy finish. Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JUN 22, 2011
Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of blutt59. Pours an orangey brown with a tiny off-white head. Sweet roasted nose, some dark dried fruits. Medium body, carbonation is a little low, Overripe dark dried fruits, quite some roast and an edge of tartness. No real bitterness but some lingering alcohol notes. 220611 decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAY 26, 2011
Mahogany pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet caramel, and brown sugar. Sweet raisins, toastiness, and a light finishing bitter. Medium light bodied and a tad fizzy. Pretty nice beer. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 19, 2011
Bottled. Poured deeper garnet with a short-lived, dense beige head. The aroma picked up odd fruity and medicinal sourness upfront, with warm, toasty caramel and molasses sugars trailing.. seemed like it was potentially infected. The flavor found drawn caramel and molasses again at the core, with the aforementioned sourness laced throughout.. almost lactic in character.. finished with a decent blend of the sweetness and infection. Light-medium bodied and slick on the palate, but tacky at times.. I’d like to try this again. weihenweizen (4043) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - MAY 7, 2011
Refrigerated bottle through trade with cavie poured into a shaker glass. Pours a very dark brown with medium brown highlights and little beige head. A little lacing, medium body, and low carbonation. Taste is light caramelly malt, raisen, some biscuit, some nuttyness, some hops, and a hint of chocolate. Typical scotch ale taste, alcohol is well covered, and this is good for the style.

Bottle:   Deep brown, moderate to thin off-white head, sparce lacing.   Heavy biscuit and peat on the nose.   Soft chocolate too.   Tart breadiness up front, peaty, but no real campfire or charred wood.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Slight dark pitted fruit comes out of this one on the backside.   A little different from the norm, but not bad.   Thanks for the bottle Bill! 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - APR 23, 2011
12 oz bottle from Ben. Dark brown, almost black pour with a thin tan head. Earthy aroma (reminded me of an open field) with notes of chocolate and caramel with a big malty presence. Sweet flavor with more caramel and malt presence. Finish is kind of sweet and almost tangy. Very nice beer. Rustyham (1836) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - APR 6, 2011
Deep translucent prune color, nearly completely flat- headless. The aroma is a thick raisiny, pruney smell and the flavor is the same, like a simpler, lower alcohol Quad. this is very nice, focus, and sweet with a little hoppy tingle in the aftertaste.
