COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We take recently emptied barrels and refill them with our Winter Warmer English-Style Dark Ale. We then age this majestic ale for 10 weeks, resulting in a skillfully balanced, ambitious blend of dark malts and English hops, complimented by dark fruit, raisin and vanilla characteristics. The oak is very apparent, adding additional depth and complexity - yielding an ale that is large in personality. So raise a glass of holiday cheer!

Good, but a bit too bourbony. Overpowers the warmer. Should’ve been mixed with the non BA version.

Dark black with opaque espresso hints tan thin head with stable lace. Malts up front on the nose with a hint of whiskey barrel in the background. Hints of vanilla and sweet cinnamon on the nose. Great foamy mouthfeel with vanilla ice cream and light roast coffee. Vanilla finish gives a dessert like feel without any overbearing sweetness. ---That dog will hunt!

UPDATED: APR 20, 2014 I REALLY wanted to like this. had aged a 2012 version. aroma was mostly bourbon but I got a little malt. nice bourbon like appearance. Taste is probably lowest 5 of all time - don’t think there was any infection. I like their regular winter warmer; I like most bourbon brrl aged beers - but this was the worst - bourbon was too strong, almost a dortmunder flavor, over carbonated, with sticky syrupy malt at end - a nasty mess.

Bottle - Vintage 2013 - Very strong bourbon and equally strong chocolate. Jet black with a rich white head. Toffee and chocolate with tons of depth and complexity. Very well balanced with not too much bourbon or booze in the taste. Great beer.

Bottle says winter 2012. Don’t know if that means if it’s a year or two years old. Very dark brown pour. Nice amount of bourbon, kind if a scotch ale taste, lots of spices that work well with the bourbon. Good stuff.

22 oz. bottle. Shared by Phatdog1’s. Thanks Craig! Not sure the vintage but the label did state it was 8.5% ABV. Dark, dirty brown in color. No head or lace. Aroma has light whiskey on top of earthy mats and tree bark. The flavor starts with dried fruits and caramel with a sweet malty base. The vanilla and like oak barrel come through in the finish. Traces of whiskey after the swallow. Medium in body and silky texture. A nice sipping brew that I finish real quick. Well crafted.

Bottle at home with my dad. Pour is deep brown, almost black with a big brown head and great lacing. Big spice- gingerbread, graham cracker, roast, brown sugar, vanilla, bread, and figs in the aroma. Taste is roasty, gingerbread, cocoa, dough, sweet malt, whisky, coconut, and coffee with a toasted bitter finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Very tasty beer.

Bomber poured into snifter. Pours a dark, murky brown with a thin white head that fades into a collar with soapy lacing. Aroma is oak, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor is smooth, largely vanilla and a bourbony sweetness, with traces of oak and malt. Slick mouthfeel and a medium body, lightly carbonated. Decent but not amazing.

Pours black with no head out of bottle. Aroma of oak and chocolate. Taste of chocolate malt with an oak finish. Good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
