Sampled on tap @ the Fort Worth Gingerman Tate of Texas. Red tinted dark pour with a slight head. Heavenly sweet vanilla and oak nose. Bourbon comes through as well. Medium bodied mouthfell with moderate carbonation. Flavor is just divine! Huge bourbon and oak. Finshes dry enough to keep it from being cloying. Far and away the best Rahr beer to date. Hand bottle thanks to Homer and Gerald (who unfortunately don’t post here). Pours dark brown to black with a creamy and lasting tan head. Aroma of well defined bourbon, vanilla, wood, and toffee. Flavor features a surprisingly milder bourbon note, big sweet vanilla, caramel, chocolate, wood, and a little porter-like astringency. Thick and creamy, more so than the regular winter for sure, but still very drinkable. No heat present despite the bourbon flavor and nose. Excellent! daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAR 14, 2011
Reddish brown pour, creamy tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, light peat, honey, caramel malt. Flavor is oaky, bourbon, vanilla, toffee. Nice! arminjewell (9688) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAR 18, 2011
Pours black with red, off white head. Aroma has notes of candied plums, raisins, some ash, and vanilla. Taste is vanilla, touch of bourbon, some nice dark fruit, ash and a touch of roast. Very nice, complex brew. dionysus (1486) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 25, 2011
Bottle shared during AZRBWG. Pour is brown with an off-white head. Aroma shows notes of toffee, bourbon, nuts, cocoa and a hint of peat smoke. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of roasted malt, brown sugar, and coffee. Overall body is moderate and finishes with a light to moderate earthy bitterness.

Pretty, inviting nose; lush, whiskey-tinged chocolate & fruit, oak, espresso, cola, raisins. Creamy, sweet but balanced, good mouthfeel, very tasty, interestingly effervescent on the finish, lingers, good depth of flavor. Quite good. decaturstevo (6244) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - MAR 13, 2012
Brown pour with creamy tan head and lace. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon barrell, and coconut. Vanilla, BB, coconut, abv, and coffee flavors. Medium full bodied with good carbonation. pretty nice unclemike (3145) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - APR 12, 2015
sample at big texas beerfest pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is light barrel, oak, vanilla, roast. Flavor is licorice, and light barrel elements of vanilla and wet wood. Enough roast to make the body interesting and the barrel is finessed enough to not be overbearing. MarcoDL (5017) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 26, 2015
Bottle at tasting. Dark brown pour. Aroma of raisin, vanilla and chocolate. Taste of bourbony vanilla raisin, malt and red fruit. Good stuff. jsmanigold (127) - Texas, USA - DEC 10, 2015
The aroma is of bourbon, vanilla. You can taste the bourbon with an additional oaky flavor. There is also a hint of sweet caramel at the end of the sip.
