Rahr's Red is a delicious, medium-bodied amber beer. As it crosses over your tongue, you'll notice a bit of caramel-like malt character. You'll also notice a slight hops bitterness-there to remind you that despite its subtle flavoring Rahr's Red is a Texas beer.

Pours amber. Not too super. Not a fan of Rahr beers. A bit watery, nothing special. Have another? Pay me?

Bottle. The pour was ruby and brown in color. Thin off-white head with minimal lacing. Corny, malty aroma with some underlying medicinal notes. The flavor was light sweet caramel and some hoppiness with that same medicinal flavor. Thin body. I didnt really care for it. I should have had a Bud Light Lime instead.

Bottle courtesy of Mar. Pours copper with a decent white head. Smells of sweet malt. Tastes spicy with some sweet malt hints. Wish I could say more, but there isnt much going on here.

Pours a deep amber color with a full light beige head and lots of carbonation that dies down after a minute. It has a sweet aroma that is slightly malty. Fairly carbonated and thin, but not a totally bad flavor. Id prefer a bit more character, but oh well. Not bad, but not great either. Doesnt stand out.

Poured into a Bobs 47 pint glass. Pours medium brown, slight reddish hue. Big thick creamy head sticks around. Smells of dark roast malt, coffee. Light on the palate. Thought it would be much more full tasting. Easy drinking with bitter aftertaste. Its just too watery for my liking for this style. Its not objectionable, but I sure as hell wouldnt go out of my way for this either.

A full amber color with a tint of red. A good pour, has a strong 1 inch thick and frothy off white head. Clear to see through and not many bubbles. Aroma of good malt, yeast and dough. Has that bready doughy taste like but its good. Reminds me of Fat Tire, but better. Rahr Red has a nice hop character. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Well behaved finish. Decent carbonation and bite, and I dont think its artificial. This is a good beer. Should be enjoyed by more people.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2008 Listed as Buffalo Butt. Large, lightbrown head that fizzes away quickly. Clear breown body. Basic, sweet, cereal malt aroma with some honey and spices. Watery, nutty, the salty taste. Pretty fizzy. Talked to the brewers at Rahr, Red and Buffalo Butt are the EXACT same beers, there is no difference, end of debate.
