Rahr's Red is a delicious, medium-bodied amber beer. As it crosses over your tongue, you'll notice a bit of caramel-like malt character. You'll also notice a slight hops bitterness-there to remind you that despite its subtle flavoring Rahr's Red is a Texas beer.

Great taste. Not much aftertaste but it lingers a bit. Had one after shoveling snow off the driveway so maybe that colors my opinion but this is good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hyatt Regency, Dallas. Draft. Just ok in every way. Fizzy mouthfeel. Fizzy head. No palate. Little aroma. Weak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at DFW airport. Reddish brown with an initially nice little head of foam, but it goes quickly. Drinks with a definite woody edge, barky even. Mellow sweetness in the finish. (#4933, 1/24/2013)

Well balanced amber lager. Great aroma while looking at a pleasant red color appearance. Best Rahr & Sons I've had so far. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

So, typical red color. Really bitter aftertaste tough for me to want to try another from this brewery. Aroma is sweet initial taste, almost like butter??? But seriously too bitter for a red. Good head.

This beer was easy on the palate not to hoppy but you never expect that from a red. It was good but nothing to rant and rave about.

From notes, 5/11/11: Rep’d Cowtown all the way by pouring a 12 oz bottle into my TCU pint glass. Aroma: Very average here. Smell of biscuity malt and slight hops. Typical amber lager here in every way. Appearance: Nice amber color with a quickly dissipating white foamy head. No lacing. Taste: Pretty typical here as well. Again, the sweet, biscuity malts. Slight hops in the finish. Got a little of the tartness that others mentioned. Palate: A little on the thin side for an amber lager. Carbonation was light. Mouthfeel clean and a little thin on the finish. Overall: Good session beer to support my local brewery with. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with it, either.

Clean neutral nose. Slight caramel crystal malt nose. Hit upfront of caramel with a toasted peanut finish. Good carbonation. ---That dog will hunt!

Spicy aroma, sweet caramel taste with a hopped finish. Very carbonated mouthfeel, not unpleasant but noticeable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Picked this up at a convenience store on the way to a friend’s for dinner since I forgot to hit up Spec’s for something good. Dark amber with an off-white head. Caramel and spice aroma. Moderate sweetness. Tastes of malt with some honey and citrus. Not much finish. Easy to drink.
