COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During a fierce storm on his voyage across the ocean, William Rahr could be heard yelling from the tall masted ship: "Roll on old sea! And when you are done, when the storm clouds have destroyed themselves, we will still be standing and drinking!" Today, we have created the ultimate ale for a voyage such as this: A German-Style IPA - a traditional India Pale Ale with German Influence. Our German-Style IPA is brewed with a blend of all German malts, hops, and yeast. It has a rich maltiness with both floral and spicy hop characteristics. So get ready and hang on - Stormcloud will see you through your roughest seas and straight on to smooth sailing. Editor’s Note: This beer was reconfigured in 2009 with new hops and yeast.

Braudog (6803) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 13, 2015
Draft at DFW. Hazy copper, firm pillowtop. Starts malt-forward, not unlike a Festbier. Then there’s the slightest of American hoppy twists. (#6060, 11/13/2015)

Hazy orange color with thin white head. Nice sweet malty aroma. Hoppy with a light malty flavor. Pretty good effort by R&S.

On tap at red robin. Pours a deep copper with a thin white head. Aromas are citrus light grapefruit. Mouthfeel is dry and bitter with a medium body and medium carbonation. Cheers!

Rated based on notes taken 23 Aug 2012 -- an okay IPA. Focuses on bitterness and crisp body rather than the "IPA experience". It’ll do but there’s better out there.

Lagerboy (2221) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 6, 2015
355 ml bottle. Unclear brownish orange, fine tan foam settles and mostly fades. Milder aroma of Noble hop and caramel. Well malted caramel/toffee taste, moderate herbal/floral/spiced hop, some citrus. Average carbonation, light-medium body. Nice enough for a British style IPA made with German hops and brewed in Texas. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Aroma of biscuit and floral hops. Taste adds slightly bitter citrus. More interesting malt influence than most IPAs.

onceblind (10296) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 29, 2014
Hazy amber with a foamy white head. Earthy grape-like fruitiness with a reisny hop and a little earthy grapefruit. Interesting nose. Rich caramalt flavor with some light grape tones like it was wine barrel aged, a little tree fruit note, grapefruity citrus earthiness, and finishing with a cracker and toffee maltiness and yet also with with this white wine and pseudo woody tone. Interesting and complex.

Bottle. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma of wet cereal. Taste is herbal and sweet. A miss for me.
